And yet, we still argue whether or not to have tighter gun control laws. smh

 what's that got to do with the price of corn? So experts, is Jenne's question "whataboutism" or a "strawman" or something else entirely? I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and saying she accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Worst case she needs immediate medical attention.

Then ask me directly. I’ll answer. No reason to ask someone else why I said what I said.

Here’s your answer. If 191 republicans fear for their lives because someone who disagrees with their actions have threatened their lives, and probably own a gun, then that stands to fucking reason we need tighter gun control laws.

Now, do you need further explanation? Or does that get through your thick skull?

So allow the 191 Republicans to carry a gun for self defense. Wouldn't that be faster than trying to take the guns from the bad guys who might target the Republicans?

you said it not me. Nice try at painting me as violently biased though! Not judging, if that's your thing, you be you.
Democrat or Republican no politician should have to fear for their life just for practicing their trade. That said gun laws don't affect bad guys anyway, which is what Jenee, Spot261 and others just can't get through their thick skulls.

Assuming that to be true, how then do we explain that countries that don't have the easy access to guns that the USA does don't have nearly as many mass shootings, school shootings, gang shootings, and so on? If the differences in laws have no effect on the situation, is is that those countries just don't have as many bad guys?

could be! We have entire threads devoted to gun laws/gun control/crime etc. and I'm sure it's been addressed. But taking away my liberties won't rid America of bad guys anytime sooner.

You do realize the very purpose of a gun is to make it easier to kill a person, right? Even if they have a gun themselves, it makes it much easier to kill them. It becomes much harder to kill a person if you do not have a firearm. You hunt, why do you use a gun to do it? Could it be because even an animal is easier to kill when you have a shotgun?

Given that a gun has no other utlity aside from making it exponentially easier to kill a person, it would make sense that taking guns away from people threatening to kill others makes their threats much less likely. There is no defense against that logic. It is simple and it works. Every gun we remove from these crazies makes it that much harder for them to kill people.

So, your solution to winding up a bunch of people with guns to the point that they threaten an elected office for doing their job is to give guns to those elected officials and allow them to shoot the very people to whom they lied and wound up?

We live in a civilized society. Not the wild west. Grow up.

 at your first sentence! Seriously though, your vote counts! If you are in favor of more stringent gun controls then vote for the people that you think will make this happen. If you don't want to own a gun then don't. Either way the odds of you being a victim of homicide by any means is 1 in 19,000 so statistically you're as safe as I am.

Yes, I'm pretty safe. I do not believe random violent crime is as common as people would have you think. If one is a victim of a violent crime, the assailant is generally known to the victim.

However, in this case, the legislator said and did everything he was supposed to do and in turn wound those people up even further. I mean, you're right there in your own little sociopathic symbiotic relationship with your own legislators feeding on each other's hate and fears, so it may not be as obvious to you. But, once this legislator does something the masses don's like/approve, they will turn on him/her and do so with the guns the legislator ensured they are allowed to carry.

I can't speak for others but I have no fear. I acknowledge potential threats and exercise appropriate caution dealing with the threats. Except for spiders inside the house - they put me on edge, but not spiders outside the house.

But you do have fear. You've stated on here that you think (fear) Democrats want to take your guns and turn this country communist. You state so without any evidence of why you think so. That is called fear.
