If Congress had only interviewed the richest and best looking kids from Parkland about their opinions on gun control, well then we'd know for sure we'd gotten the most valid and useful opinions available from childkind in america based on the hollywood proxy for determining which opinions are worth listening to versus which are shite.

Yes. "She'd" still be a fucking idiot, but I'd at least respect that.
Yeah, if you just listen to idiots on Twitter. The majority are just mystified why so many of you are going along with Trump dragging down the entire Republican party and getting them to approve of awful things. His policies hurt people and that's being dismissed and ignored by most Republicans. Plus there is a small minority of people in conservative politics who are white nationalists who want to drag the entire party onto their side. I'm not saying that all Republicans agree with them, but they do use you and they need to be stopped. It doesn't require never voting for Republicans again. But we can no longer keep supporting any politician who is "my way or fuck off", that goes for both parties. The government needs to function and not shut down every few months because of some single issue. That's not sustainable if we want to remain a superpower. Democrats and Republicans need to work together for what's best for the country. We don't have to scream at each other constantly and demonize the other. We can go back to compromising, that way both sides get something they want. That used to work. You guys loved the Reagan days, we can go back to something like that. Plus you just have to realize Trump is a fucking moron. He's more concerned with people paying attention to him and looking good than anything. The wall isn't about security, he just wants to build it so he can stand in front of it and gloat about how great he was for getting it built. Fucker probably wants to name it Trump's Wall so it's in history books as such. Republicans, you can do so much better. This is me extending the olive branch. I try not to be an asshole to anyone just because they're a Republican, I really just disagree with their positions.

Tuttle seems to post shit for the reaction alone. But I just think he’s an idiot, I wouldn’t wish him any harm though. There is a person behind the keyboard.

There is a grown-up world, and world of children. Most of leftforge persists in remaining in child-world. Btw, Dicky, that wasn't even funny. You should do better, or try a new schtick. Opinions of popular stars are just as meaningless and devoid of real content as the opinions of the Parkland kids about gun control; this is not a case of being mean just a reasoned observation of the realities of life, however crass sounding or politically unpalatable.

Just take this topic seriously for a moment - In fact, the Parkland children are the precisely worst possible group from which to draw opinions on school safety or gun violence. That is if you want to apply a grown up analysis of any underlying point behind the questions raised of "humor" in the OP.

It's been reasonably well determined that about 90% of reactions or decisions are emotional-based, with the remaining 10% formed by a rational decision making process. And that 10% of rational or logic based decision making is generally about topics that someone doesn't even care much about, which makes sense if you think about it. So any kids recently traumatized by a mass shooting at their school are almost certainly incapable of opining based on logic or reason, and just as certain to decide or react based purely on their emotional response to the circumstances or events.

If Congress had any true interest in eliciting opinions worthwhile in compiling a body of information and perspectives upon which to draw to formulate the basis for the nation's policy on a particular topic, then they definitely wouldn't have been calling for the testimony from the Parkland kids. The motivation for calling the kids was more of the same political posturing and grandstanding from both sides as seen in the border 'debate' and many other topics of the day.

Huh. Looks like my comment sparked quite the diversion.

    To pile on:
    • Regardless of the quotation marks, I think at the least listing trans along with a bunch of negative qualities was a bad visual.
    • I assume it wasn’t intended, however doubling down when it is pointed out rarely has the desired effect. A ‘Huh, that’s not how I meant it, but I can see how it could be taken that way’ goes further to diffuse such misunderstanding.
    • Considering you apparently don’t believe anything else about Tererun, why do you believe the part about them driving someone to suicide?
    • I personally aren’t huge fan of their’s (how often do you see me responding to them?) and found their boast distasteful, however in the context of the time (claiming to be a ‘Master Troll’ that could get the whole board to hate them and then banned [why is getting banned supposed to be the mark of a good troll? Seriously don’t get that; some at TK share this view] I don’t think it was true, but just that a boast/troll attempt.
    • Due to society’s general treatment of trans and non-binary folks, I think it best to err on the side of belief/solidarity. Not everyone knows the context and would just see you saying a person who claims to be trans shouldn’t be believed. And then everyone else letting it slide (if folks didn’t call it out). That isn’t the kind of example we should be pushing. And what do you gain by doing it?
    • Using a trans friend to backup an edgy statement looks just about as good as using a black friend to defend an edgy statement. More than that it gives the FFs of the world cover for their positions. ‘14D’s trans friend said calling out trans people is okay, so I’m not being an asshole when I do it.’
    • To tie the whole thread together, this seems the perfect place to use the ‘I was just spitting truths, sorry the PC police can’t take a joke’ and see how well it worked out for you. Hopefully lessons were learned and we can all move on.

Can’t say I didn’t try. I’ve gotten where I’ve almost completely given up on treating conservatives with any respect because like the example above and @Federal Farmer rep shows, they have no intention of even listening to the other side. They want to win like this is some sort of game with a winner. When you try to reach out, they slap at your hand and insult you. If anyone who considers themselves a reasonable Republican even bothers to read this, just know that you bring on so much of the negative things you get called out of reaction to how you behave. If you don’t like that, maybe you should smack some sense into idiots like them.

But I’m getting to where I just don’t care and it’s all because of interactions with conservatives.

I'm sorry, is the right still trotting out that old "we're for freedom" line? I thought the Trump administration had pretty much laid their authoritarian desires bare for all to see.

Now it’s just freedom to say slurs and not get called out on it. They want freedom from the speech of others. Trump has actually said that the news should not be allowed to report things he doesn’t approve of or that SNL be allowed to make fun of him. That’s an open attack on freedom of the press and free speech, but they’re all silent on it.

They never were, Fox News claimed they did and idiots believed them. Their “proof” was some video of a some black person saying something about Obama giving out free money. But it’s the same gag as Jaywalking from the Tonight Show. Find an idiot, film them and act like it represents anything other than a random idiot.

He never said it was free, it would be funded by tax dollars that come from increasing tax rates on the people who earn the most money. It would mostly benefit those in the middle class and lower incomes, freeing up the money they would spend on healthcare and college and spend it on products which would help the economy and the companies that pay the people would be taking on most of the taxes.

But let's just ignore all of that and let you have your strawman arguments, it's the only way you can win.

By this line of reasoning, "America's Most Wanted", never should have had John Walsh on it, because a criminal chopped his son's head off.
John McCain never should have been allowed to vote on anything to do with war, because he was a POW.
Gabby Giffords's career should have been over.
Reagan ate some lead, so he shouldn't have come back.
    Ditto Brady.
    I could go on...

"Hey, today is the anniversary of my mother dying and me missing it by 15 minutes. I've also been hung over since yesterday morning."

you lost me here! What did you miss by 15 minutes - her death or the anniversary? Of course I don't mean a "fun" anniversary I mean an annual memorial service (putting flowers on a grave) or something like that. As for being hung over there's only one surefire cure for that - and science backs me up - don't drink to excess!

But of course it’s not free and we all know that. His healthcare plan alone will cost 34 trillion, but 5 billion for a Wall is too much.
