    I've already dealt with this.

Every single person in town is mind controlled. That's explicit.

So Pietro not acting like Pietro would be normal in this setting - he specifically said he is acting the way Wanda wants him to act in the Halloween episode.

And the Agnes scene showed her magic on Pietro when he first comes to the door at Wanda's house - why would Mephisto need any help from Agnes, or be controlled by Agnes?

And if the fly on the wall, which is an explicit reference to Mephisto, is indeed Mephisto as was the way he was introduced in the comics, he isn't likely to also be Pietro at the same time.

As to your comments on Monica, that doesn't explain the multiple versions of Monica was saw, but instead represents her internal dialogue that allows her to overcome them.

But only 2 eps left, so we'll see. :D

Yeah... since it’s setting up another batch of MCU movies, there’s no guarantee we’re getting a season 2 either. :(

Let's make this interesting. Are you willing to bet that your theory that the Pietro we are seeing is a transplanted Xverse Pietro? I'm willing to bet within reason it's not. (I possess no inside knowledge and have not seen any spoilers to that effect.)

I'm willing to do a gentleman's wager, low-stakes money (up to $50) , or potentially other terms. Let me know before the next episode.

"Going through the barrier caused some sort of quantum shifts in the one Monica native to this reality that she powered through to emerge as Spectrum" is as good an explanation for "Going through the barrier caused Monicas from other dimensions to merge into our Monica."

I'm fine with that. The concept behind this show may not last another season, anyway.

Better to go out on top than fizzle out like so many other shows.

LOL. So I take X-Pietro, you take the field? What odds are you giving me, because otherwise this is a sucker bet. Don't get to Vegas much I take it? :D

How about I take X-Pietro, you take this Pietro is Mephisto. We both have an equal assertion we are measuring against. If it's neither it's a push.

$50 is fine, though I doubt either one of us care about money - a more fitting reward might be to make the loser put how smart the winner is in their signature for a month.

Can't say I really care one way or the other, I'm just having fun analyzing what things might mean, which is one of the ways I enjoy shows like this. But that doesn't mean that the answer they give at the end will match the clues, as we've seen there's a lot of bad writers out there that keep getting hired. Remember Lost? Hell, for that matter Knives Out - the ending of that was abysmal, yet for some reason it is beloved.

Let's do the sig thing, but have it cover a few more things that are basically adjacent to what we're talking about.

You win if Pietro is Xverse Pietro, any alt-dimensional version of Pietro or even MCU Pietro who for some reason was remodeled to look differently. Basically, any outcome where it can reasonably said that this is a real version of Pietro Maximoff, you win.

I win if Pietro is Mephisto/Nightmare/Fill-in-the-blank Big Bad/an impostor who is actively in league with Agatha. Basically, any variation on it being a fake Pietro who is a disgiused version of someone Agatha is working with or for, or someone working for her, i win.

I didn't pick up any Honeymooners nods, but there's a lot of the Dick Van Dyke show in the first episode.

Not being a Marvel reader, I have no idea who Mephisto even is.
Never heard of Agatha before background reading for the various speculations on this series.

Well, I certainly never claimed this was the MCU version of Pietro and did point out it might be Nightmare... :D

    But sure, why not.

Could be, but someone pointed out that all the commercials so far have dealt with stuff from Wanda and Vision's pasts - the Nexus was also the name of the place Stark found JARVIS protecting humanity after they thought Ultron killed him. And then JARVIS became Vision.

Never meant to imply you did. Nor did I claim anything but that it was Mephisto. But I think there's a lot of things that are close enough to what is claimed that they shouldn't be pushes. If it turns out toe be Pietro from Earth 1245 rather than Xverse earth or if they reveal that it is in fact A Pietro but don't say it's the Xverse Pietro, I should face the consequences of being wrong. And if it turns out that Pietro isn't exactly Mephisto but is some other person disguised as him, you shouldn't either.

Also, off topic, If Kat Dennings was taller she'd make a near picture perfect Baroness if they ever want to make a REAL G.I. Joe movie with the 80's Marvel comic vibe.

What if it's Mephisto pretending to be X-Pietro, and therefore introduces X universe in that manner, because Mephisto knows about other realities in the multiverse? :D

But as I said, sure, why not, even though you are expanding the interaction to state things that neither of us said prior to this.

My only real assertion to this point is that your argument that it can't be X-Pietro isn't sufficient, because of mind control that we know is prevalent here.

But what the fuck, you are on.

Starting to think the mystery super star cameo will be whoever is playing Mephisto. I heard some say they think it will be Al Pacino. He’s actually expressed a desire to be in the MCU... and he’s played the devil before...

Also, based on the bit after the credits and how Doctor Who manages to get me every single time, I am fully primed to accept that Pietro is actually The Master.

I don't hate it, but so far, this seems to me like it would have been better paced as a 2-hour movie.

It probably could have been done as a 2-hour movie, but a lot of the fun bits would have to go away.

Well, if it turns out it's Pacino as Mephisto, than I'm almost certainly losing my bet.

But I'm still kinda hoping that happens, because he'd be a great central villain for Phase 4 of the MCU. He'd probably be in half a dozen movies in the next 5 years.

Absolutely not imo, it would destroy the entire conceit of having the earlier episodes completely feel like period TV episodes.

Also feel like as a movie it would feel pretty low stakes for the Marvel universe, especially coming off Endgame.

There would be a way to do things and make it more linear. I think you would lose a lot of the texture and the humor and mystery so it wouldn't be worth it. But you could do it.

Start essentially with Episode 4. Skip Monica being blipped back and starting at SWORD and just have her meeting Jimmy outside of Westview and getting sucked into the anomaly.

Have SWORD gearing up and Darcy discovering the broadcast. Then essentially play Episode 1, 2 and 3 largely like they are, with Jimmy and Darcy occasionally providing commentary or making their discoveries about who's who. Proceed with 5-7. Skip the commercials or have them as extras. Cut or trim a few scenes and we're probably able to get the series down to 2hrs 30 minutes.

I don't understand the hate for Season 8 of GoT.

Sure, it was one of the weakest seasons of the series but it was basically working without source material (other than GRRM's sketchy notes) and did provide some closure to most of the storylines.

I think fanboys/girls have been spoiled rotten and just pissed their diapers because it wasn't exactly what they wanted.
