That is an awesome find. I love watches, especially old Soviet watches.

Read up some on it. Apparently these were so expensive when they were made, one piece was an engineer's monthly salary.

Btw I got the watch, near mint condition. A mark at the caseback, that was all. Very happy with it, going to get a proper bracelet (because old Soviet bracelets REALLY SUCK.)

Speaking of old Soviet tech, they made some neat space related lamps I'd love to have.

So I know I've already fallen into "watch nerd" territory, to complement my "cigar nerd", "music nerd", "pipe tobacco nerd", "knife nerd" and other nerd titles, but at least those don't take over my life. My one true obsession these days is CNC technology and that's fine, I mean, that's actually my job.

Still this months "gift for myself" was two things. A watch and a bottle of ultra-black paint.

This is a Vostok. Self-winding automatic movement, 24 hour dial, Russian army watch. For seventy bucks!

This'll be my everyday wear watch as it's true watertight (important in my job as I'm dealing with lots of coolant liquid, it's also corrosive) and it doesn't need batteries, doesn't need winding, and is functional.

There are some other designs I really love but those are mainly dress watches, not very practical.
