The air quality comment is a non sequitur.

^If true, the extra green is likely because of the all the 'extra' CO2 in those two regions.

I remember the ice age scare at the time. I think I was in high school then. There was some sci fi written about it too. I don't recall it lasting long, but it WAS a thing.

I also note the end of the Kali Yuga Cycles has passed (2010) without the world ending. There was a NY DJ who liked to spook us on his late night show by reading their dire predictions for the end of times.

Proof that there were people calling for an ice age in the 70s that k said no to.

Shitty reporting. The underlying paper was about the potential effects of massive increases of both SO2 aerosols and CO2 as semi-counterbalancing forces (they turned out to have underestimated the effects of CO2 somewhat). Guess what, we have stopped increasing SO2 aerosols (and they are now decreasing), so by the same paper, we should expect warming.

Are there any actual papers in there, or just commentary? 2 links in, no papers.

And even much of the commentary is “if we don’t do anything, bad things will happen” which was a true statement, but, uh... we did something about it, which really doesn’t make the commentary wrong.

Then by the same standard, you would be wrong again. You seem to think that bad journalism means you can never know what is true. But that's not the case. Just because you don't read scientific papers, doesn't mean they don't exist. They proved right then and are the best indicator of what is real now.

I think that every time there’s a prediction about climate change, it ends up being wrong, every, single, time. Instead of admitting they were wrong, they double down and push back the time table.

You just cited 1 instance, and in that 1 instance, the prediction was correct. So why do you believe the opposite?

By all means, do so, linking me to the papers that show that to be the case! I’m sure you’ll have no trouble doing so, what with the thousands of papers that show climate change isn’t occurring.

    Oh wait...

Frankly, that's simply not true. You are quoting liars in saying so (I won't say you're lying, because you don't know enough to do so yourself).

And there have been warming predictions prior the 70s and cooling predictions prior to that and so on and so on, it's almost as if it's cyclical.

    We are.

    We will.

    They will (at least partially).

    Citation? Predicted date?

In some cities like Beijing people often do. Luckily we clamped down on various pollutants being pumped into the air.

Depletion of topsoil in farmland is a thing.

Reduced due to limiting pollution pumped into rivers, but still a concern. In fact this exact scenario happened in Australia's Murray river just this summer where low water levels combined with agricultural runoff killed some fish, which decayed more, which created a feedback loop which ended up wiping out stretches of the rivers fishlife.

    Predicted date?

    Seems hyperbolic I agree.

    Yes.

Not proof but not disproof either since many often forget that weather != climate.

Note that where I made a note of wanting to see the sources I know you said your link has them, just no time to look now so noted for later follow up.

    Citation needed.

Please provide a statistically significant sample size of scientific literature from prior to those discussing climate change in either direction.

Conservatards don't want to accept climate change as real because it demands strong government intervention in the economy to alleviate, which they categorically oppose. They also hate uppity academics, who lean Left otherwise, telling us how to live. They'd rather let the coasts flood, some of our favorite crops become unfarmable, and let Third World people suffer, rather than go against their ideology. Pile on as much science as you like; they don't give a shit. They'll churn out one excuse after another until the whole Earth is a desert.
