Bill Clinton built his self serving library and dedicate himself to advancing his wife's political career.

George W. Bush basically laid low. Something he does to this day.

George H.W. Bush did about the same.

Reagan was in declining health so did very little.

Carter promptly began trolling for a Nobel Peace Prize in order to validate his horrible presidency.

What is Obama likeliest to do given his relatively young age (55) and apparently good health?

One can assume he'll build his presidential library and museum in Chicago.

Probably the first presidential library where the bullet proof glass actually proves useful and the tourists get a free Kevlar vest.

I assume he'll be playing celebrity golf a lot.

Yep. He'll probably chill until the first Trump contraversy hits and then its on to the lecture circuit, sit on a few boards, and then write the big tell all book that all rakes in millions.

So he'll get to enjoy retirement for about a month.

Q.v. what Jimmy Carter has done since leaving office.

In terms of Presidential candidates, Obama is a young man. Those of you who were genuinely interested could just Google what he'll be doing when he leaves office. The rest of you will just wave your hands and yammer about "novelty presidents."

And then give it to the poor because that's what democrats do, because they are all about helping humanity. He'll probably move his family into a one bedroom Chicago apartment (west Englewood neighborhood would be cool) and maybe get back into being a community organizer - Michelle can make healthy high fiber meals for all the kids on the block.

Is that similar to how Michael Moore fights for the common, working class man and touts his humble beginnings in Flint, MI? Even though he's now a multi-millionaire, lives in a mansion the citizens of Flint couldn't afford even if they pooled all their yearly salaries, and ridicules the religious beliefs that define the vast majority of working-class America?

Oh wait, Moore is too busy organizing his star-studded inauguration protest in DC. No time to help the poor. :(

Obama will stay in DC long enough for his youngest to complete high school. That's all I know at the moment.

Here's something I find funny (nothing political, just funny): Obama is staying in DC (kids still in HS is no joke! Many credits and classes don't transfer - never relocate when your kids are in HS if you can help it) :nono: but since the White House will be undergoing renovations, Trump can't live in it for a while! Maybe the Obama's can let Trump camp out in his yard! He can be like Cousin Eddy on Christmas Vacation, pumping his RV toilet into the storm drain. Damn that would make a funny comedy skit - somebody get right on that!

I suspect he will write more books, go on lots of lecture tours, and possibly even go back to being a law professor (part time).

I wouldn't rule out a Supreme Court nomination for him in the 2020s, but I won't hold my breath for it.

I also think it is very likely for him and Biden to film an adventure buddy comedy together.

You really think the GOP controlled Senate would ever be willing to confirm him?

Current projections are that in the midterm Senate elections that take place in 2018, the GOP will kick ass and take names. That group of Senators will be in office through 2024.

Projections 3-4 months ago had Clinton winning. Do you think those Senate projections will remain completely unaltered over the next 22 months?

I've only seen the Clinton one. And my description of it as "self serving" is spot on. I'll reserve judgement on the others till I've seen them.

So were you asleep or drunk when the democrats ran a multi millionaire darling of Wall Street against Donald Trump?

Say whatever you want about Obama but he's an excellent speaker and he'll use his talents and connections to get paid dolla dolla bills ya'll.

His wife has a bright future too. Those two are going to be rolling in in it.

I know you were making a joke, but you highlight exactly why people were pushing for Common Core unity in our education system. One state can have entirely different education standards to the point that a kid from, say, Georgia could move to Massachusetts and be held back through no fault of their.

In Japan, a kid is able to move from Tokyo to Osaka, Nagasaki, Sapporo or Okinawa and maybe have a week or two difference from what he or she learned at her last school. There's no remedial courses at the University level: you either know basic college level math and Japanese or you shell money out at remedial school till you do. As it should be.

And factor in that the US is the most mobile population in the world! We are constantly transferring jobs, buying new homes (different school district ten miles away) etc.etc. so we should be knee-deep in having nearly identicle course layouts and class choices from coast-to-coast. It's not just standards, it's multi-part classes that aren't even offered in other schools, etc.

So let me add to my "magic wand" list: unified (call it common core if you want) education (except for a few electives but no show-stoppers).

I like how, while every former president in modern times has a presidential library, only Bill Clinton's is "self-serving."

What were the others for, exactly?

I believe he claimed to be unaware of the existence of any other presidential library, since they aren't located in Arkansas.

I'm fully aware of them but I have not had an opportunity to visit any of them. I have visited the Clinton Library and it boggles the mind things he claims credit for there.

What got me was a display lauding the success of one of the Mars Rovers.

From what I've learned about the only thing Clinton did regarding the space program was complain about the money it cost.

I wonder if the Reagan library goes into great detail about Iran-Contra, Reagan's record deficits, and the number of members of his administration who ended up under indictment ...

When I go I'll report back to you.

Though for what its worth at least a few of notable indictments of Reagan administration officials turned out to be completely unjustified.
