For me it was in August 2005 in Norphlet. First day of school. I walked from football practice up to the elementary school at 3:20 to make sure Annalee got on the right school bus. First day of Kindergarten. It was 107 degrees with some serious humidity.

It was a long walk uphill and I was exhausted before I got back to the practice field.

One of our senior lineman (Lamar) collapsed at the end of practice about the time the players got back in the field house. We dragged him in to the showers and hosed him down with cold water for about 15 minutes when he finally perked up.

    AFAIK 111F on 5 September 2000.

I can’t say for certain but in all likelihood I was out working in it.

No idea how hot it actually was, but the Northern Sahara in mid afternoon in July was pretty oppressive.

I've experienced upwards of 115-120 during the summer in California. Usually only lasts a day or two at a time, and usually it cools down at night. However, there was one summer when the average high for an entire month was 110ish and the night-time temp only dropped to about 80. Probably about 15ish years ago. It was awful, but air conditioning and a pool made it more bearable.

I've lived through 100 degree heat with intense humidity and no air conditioning in central Italy for about 2-3 weeks. The only way I survived was lots of cold showers and lots of cold beer.

But it's a dry heat. :garamet:

Couple years ago right here in northern Virginia it was hitting 107f with high humidity. Lots of fun. I personally tend to run toward cold climates, tho . . . -20f in Maine, -30f in Iowa, like that.

Yeah, dry heat isn't as bad. The only places I've really experienced a lot of humidity were Florida and, surprisingly, back home in London. When we have a little heatwave over here we tend to have a lot of humidity and I find that more uncomfortable than most of the hot places I have been to.

I feel your pain! Kuwait for me in late August..... :whew: Often "official" temperatures don't tell the whole story either. Micro climates can spike temperatures up a few degrees in localized areas.
On a sustained basis working construction in Phoenix Arizona for a few years was insanity. :drama: April through October was..........not fun, especially working at a fast pace.

I vaugely remember that. But 100 plus is common near Sacramento. I grew up in Solano County and we always took jackets with us to the Bay Area in the summer because of their freezing cool 70 degree weather

And San Diego has turned me into a pussy cuz now I barely enjoy anything above 85 degrees anymore. I won't be like MINI's sales team that actively avoided customers when it got warm, but I don't bask in the heat like I did as a kid.

Iv been in vegas in July twice. 115-117 most days. I did a relativly short outdoor walk mid afternoon one day, bare in mind i was 36 years old and in good health...... it kicked the shit out of me..... quickly.

It was actually fine for sitting out at the pool in. Lack of humidity probably helped.

I don't know if it was the absolute hottest I've ever experienced, but the most unpleasantly hot weather I've ever experienced was in early summer '93 in Miami. Temperature and humidity were in the high 90s. Leaving the nicely air-conditioned airport was like stepping into a blast furnace.

Another time that wasn't so unpleasant, but was impressively hot was when I was in San Antonio (hi, @shootER) and it was still 100 degrees when I went out at 10 o'clock at night.

Yeah, when I was in Phoenix some years ago, the temperature was above 100f but because it was so dry, as long as you weren't in direct sun it was pretty tolerable. Especially with the breeze blowing.

On record, the temp was 110, but the cars were reading an external temp of around 112-113. That was also the day that my sister picked to move. That was not fun.

August 1984, Scottsdale AZ. Easily 115 degrees F if not warmer. Couldn't walk barefoot, even at the pool. It *was* a dry heat, but we still baked outside.

We hit 45C/113f with the humidity effects here a few weeks back.

Extreme heat is always a problem here because of the spike in electricity usage.
