Probably at about the same time some people started getting their panties in a twist (joke intended) over Waitress, Stewardess, Actress, et al.

For me, job titles carry a little weight. They have "Servers" at TGIMcFunsters Chiliapplebees. A restaurant with a Michelen star has "Waiters." Commercial Airlines have "Flight Attendants" to herd you into your Cattle Class holding pen. Railways and Cruise Lines have "Stewards" that seek to serve you with prompt efficiency and maybe just the right amount of panache.

Of course, I have also noticed that we have an extreme over-inflation of job titles. But, that's another topic for another day, I guess.

Jesus you are so incredibly delusional & partisan. Yes, Garamet - every man engages in the "grab em' by the pussy" talk because of Trump. Human resources is just flooded with complaints about that -I think the total is ZERO where I work so far, but don't let that stop you from spewing your distorted rants.
But don't worry if a Democrat gets elected :hail: every male will be on their best behavior! Verbal and physical assaults on women will be nonexistent within 24 hours, and eventually just a distant memory of the horrific Trump regime. :drama: Am I in the ballpark here?

After I hit you with the black stick I am going to whack you with the woman stick. It is great to know from the guy who has never spent a single day as a woman how life is for women. At least I have tried it, and trust me you would be annoyed to. The first time you have your ass cornered by some pushy guy who thinks you went out dressed that way just so he would want to ask you out on a date it is annoying. About the fifth time it happens, which is probably the same day, you buy a machete. Of course, there is some amusement value hearing the guy who was too busy staring at your ass crack his skull on something because he walked into it.

yes, this behavior is terrible......but has been around well before Trump came along, and will be here long after Trump is gone. If you can prove that sexual harassment and generally sexist behavior is any worse since Trump took over I would like to see that proof. Just sayin'

Please do not get me wrong. Trump is a product of the environment he was raised in and told was how a rich "cool" man behaves. His attitudes are a product of the attitudes of his youth and how he was raised. At best he has made an attack on the changes which are making things a bit better for most people. The truth is that the times I have learned the difficulty of how men behave towards women were mostly experienced before trump ever came into power. The problem with trum is that instead of encouraging a change even when it is late in coming, like Obama and Clinton did with their evolution on gays, trump tries to push back to the old days where you could more easily be a sexist without problems and even were cheered for your sexism. Trying to demonize respect for others because manners and professionalism are PC is a problem in and of itself. It is one that he may not have started, but he has become the champion and leader of by his own will. He will be replaced by the next guy, but for now he is the head of the problem.

I see grown women on social media refer to themselves as girls all the time, particularly when referring to their group pics. People need to lighten up and stop taking everything so personally

Any time someone needs to be identified either generally or precisely. A BOLO for a 5'-8" tall, 165lb dark skinned person is a lot less precise than a BOLO for a 5'-8" tall, 165lb hispanic male. Or, if I'm at a restaurant, I may remember I had excellent service from the sandy blonde waitress. If I want to be seated in her area so I can be serviced by her again, describing her physical attributes would certainly make the process much more efficient.

In my current industry, there are gigantic gender distinctions. Ladies jewelry, versus gents jewelry, versus a tiny amount of unisex jewelry. Coming into my store and telling me that you're wanting to buy a gift for your partner doesn't give me the necessary information to help you make a decision. I'm going to need gender, and most likely, height and weight to help you make an informed decision.

Describing distinctions does not make anyone inferior.

There is a difference in context and meaning when it is friends. Just like if I was a good friend of yours and called you my boy, or if I were your superior at work and called you my boy. Try going into your boss tomorrow and calling him your boy and see how he takes it and then get back to us on how people need to lighten up. How does that work for you boy?

    Context matters.

Men are taught from a very earlier age that they are superior to women. It's why girl is an insult. It's shaming men for failing on some level to be men.

It's why a man in a dress is funnier than a woman in a suit. The man is lowering his status.

What makes ladies jewelry different from mens? Isn’t it all just size and preference? And what does gender even say there? White gold/yellow gold, antique v contemporary, stone preference, ring size, etc etc all seem to much more important than ‘it is for a vagina haver’.*

I mean you’d sell a ‘ladies ring’ to a guy right if it fit and he liked it right?

*unless of course it was genital jewelry, then yeah, that’d be useful info.

Now I can get separate bedrooms but separate beds in the same room? How fucking stupid.

But it did remind me of this video which is actually pretty topical.

Um, you do know that "Donnie Smallhands" was elected in 2016 and anybody's attitudes on women were already formed by then, thus his crude behavior is indicative of him and only him in this case, amiright?

No, you are completely wrong. Seeing a man who habitually denigrates and repeatedly harrasses and assaults women elevated to the highest office rather than uniformly shunned and despised does not leave people's evaluation of gender roles unaffected. Neither does the similar treatment of his most despicable appointees.

I would say because some feel it's more polite to address someone when you speak to them. "'Morning, Bob, how's the project coming along?" I suppose you could say " Good morning, team..." but that makes you sound like a dick.

So if the team had mixed genders, polite communication would break down?

If you want to address people, address them. If you don't know who any of them are, noting that at least you noticed their boobs doesn't make you any less of a dick. That's why your example says "Morning, Bob", not "Morning, boy".

Nor would I say "'Morning, Girl" to an individual; I'd also use her name, you fool. :jayzus:
A group of females, I think it would be polite to say "Good morning ladies." A group of men, probably "...guys" or "fellas." A mixed group, "Good morning, everyone." The last can also apply to single-gender groups, what the heck. Simply trying to use the most polite address for whatever the situation, at no time am I trying to insult anyone.

I think it is a liberal thing because I wasn't taught that either growing up. Then again, that was a time when opening a door and saying Ma'am wasn't taken as an insult.

if joking (I joke about everything & everybody) is "denigrating" women then I guess I'm guilty. But wait.....according to these links
I am not denigrating them because at no time did I state they are inferior. Perhaps you could work on getting that bug out of your ass/chip off your shoulder/get a sense of humor/etc.
