As per my somewhat official mission statement that welcomes Bronies (and non-Bronies) to this forum, give me your opinions on why you are a Brony, and what it is you like about the show and/or fandom.

So on topic, I am a MLP fan because the show is optimistic! I love the crazy colors and the sweet ponies that live in Equestria and wish we had that kind of love and kindness here! I am also an AppleDash fan as you see from my name, and like to ship ponies. Also why haven't you finished Orange and Blue yet? MARRIAGE! I MUST HAZ IT!

Yes! One of the reasons I got into the show was it's upbeat positivity. It gave me a sense of love and kindness as a rule, rather than as the exception. Also, I like candy colored ponies, too.

I think the world needs more kindness, laughter, generosity, loyalty, honesty, and the magic of friendship.

The trekkie contingent is a nice little surprise, I agree. I remember not listening to "smile! smile! smile!" when it was leaked, and felt like waiting was the best thing. I was so right. The song still makes me tear up. It is a very sweet, very positive song, and it's one of the best that Daniel Ingram (and Amy Keating Rogers)has ever written.

I admit I listened to it when it was leaked but it was much better when it came out normally.

If you haven't seen this yet, you have to:

It is 100% fan animated, voiced, and everything. Two bronies worked on it, for a year, and this was the end result.

You know, I'm watching a show with my wife now that I would never watch if she didn't like it. It makes my day to see her smile, and to see her enjoy it. It's Drop Dead Diva or somesuch lifetime show about a lawyer.

This has helped me to understand you Bronies. *word*

Sometimes the company you keep makes a show you would normally consider uninteresting, to be worth watching, if for no other reason than to build a common bond. I usually watch My Little Pony with my niece (who loves whatever pony I happen to like at any given moment). At first, she thought it was a bit silly, as no one else in our family had any interest in the show, but now she likes to talk about it when my brother and his family come over.

My wife didn't like Star Trek before we got married. We watched all five series the first year we were married. She loves it now.

Not always, sitting through Sex in the City was torture, I'd rather watch hour long documentaries with detailed video of circumcision.

If I loved someone enough, I could sit through Sex and the City, as long as I was allowed to have nachos while watching. That would make it quite tolerable.

I know it has been a while since someone posted here, but I am up for a necro.

First, I got into My Little Pony through Bronies in the internet. Their fanart was so amazing and funny, and being pretty much a toonofile I went out and watched the show having ignored it in the 80s because it would have signaled my feminine leanings to others, and that is bad when you are young and transgendered. This new show was great. It was cute, and it awesome characters to follow. Even today I still love this sort of iconic characterization with some good wit thrown in. Then I realized it was a great adventure show and was not doing the old beat cute to death thing. No, those ponies get down to fighting when they have to. Especially in this latest season where twilight went from allicorn to superneighan. She powered up just like the boys do, and had a transformation sequence.

Every time I think they are going to puss out and make it girly they surprise me by getting down in it. This is one of the main reasons I like to show it to others. Yes, it is animated cute, but there are good story lines and even a good fight or two in there. They have to get down and dirty at times and are not wandering through a world without dirt and scrapes. It just happens that the fastest runner happens to be a girl. It just happens that there is a ruler who is a female. It is not like they don't have knights around or men around, it is from a female perspective. Girls have adventures too. You could easily juxtapose any of the mane 6 as a boy and not have to change anything but the clothing. The visual identifiers.

The characters bounce off of each other so enthusiasticaly it makes the show bright and fun even when they are goind for a more serious moment. I was afraid when I first saw the trailers for the movie, but after seeing it I knew the writers were going to keep it from going off the sexualized end. I think it really sends a good message to kids, and even some adults could use a little friend education. I cannot think of anything bad about it and I am not surprised it has attracted a bunch of strong guys. It was not written to exclude them like some other for girls material.

Oh, and did I say cute and adorable, I think I did because I love cute and adorable.
