Here it comes, sports fans - the next great new concept from Tim Minear that Fox will find a way to f**k up! Nevertheless, your truely will be glued to the screen at 7 CDT tonight to catch Nathan Fillion and a huge case in what promises to be an addctive new TV series.... Check out all the cheap propotional crap on the Fox site here: http://www.fox.com/drive/
Alright, damnit, where the heck do I know the little dude with the powerpoint from? It's driving me nuts. Anyway, on the whole, I was real impressed. Fillion is made for roles like this, most of the rest ofthe cast seems to have potential, and the writing is generally snappy. A few things I liked a lot.. > Tully does the obvious thing and takes the charger...something far too many writers would have overlooked; >The charger has a kill switch >"Plants" along the way such as "Flo" in the diner. >That there's someone here who has a motivation having nothing to do with either money or a threat hanging over a loved one >Cryptic clues, but not so cryptic that it's not reasonable the drivers would figure them out One thing I DON'T like is that damn Ford pickup. Someone PLEASE set Tully up with some new wheels! Looking forward to tomorrow night...
I liked it! Great opening episode, and I'll tune in for sure! The redhead with the dad kinda reminds me a bit of Lindsey Lohan, but without the fucking issues.
I only got to see the last 30 minutes, but it pulled me in. I will be watching tonight. I'll enjoy it as long as it lasts.
Brudder's got the right of it. This is FOX, you know - almost didn't watch it for that very reason (no point in getting into shows they're gonna cancel, ya know - it's why I never watched Wonderfalls, for example) I'm 2 for 2 in the clues.
Fillion was great as usual. In fact, most of the cast were good. It's a shame that the show itself was both retarded and predictable. Meh. I'll give it a couple more episodes. I don't want to get caught out the way I did with Heroes.
Don't get attached to it. Ratings were mediocre. Marc Berman fast national ratings Average for the 2 hours--6.05 million viewers. 2.6/7 in 18-49 demo. Scored only slightly higher than a Simpsons repeat last week. It's DOA. This is Fox. American Idol pays the bills. They don't need anything else.
I liked it. It's what The Amazing Race should be like. Even though flashbacks can sometimes be good in some TV shows, I don't think it fits with this show. Instead of doing the "1 hour ago" thing, they should have just showed the story linearly. I mean, in a race, you always go forward. Tonight's episode looks like it will be good, and hopefully there won't be as many flashbacks. Even though 6 million viewers is a lot, the show looks very expensive to produce, and ultimately may not be worth it. I hope FOX does air all the episodes they filmed, in the event that it gets canceled. But I also hope they give it a chance.
I liked it. It was nice to see all the Whedonite actors, even Amy Acker I'll try and watch it many times, since I'm a Nielsen family.
Anyone care to name all the cars in use? I've been trying to get my hands on a second-gen Camaro for a while now.
Yea! the pickup is gone! And, in Lost-esque fashion, our man Tuly is not what he appears to be. Still, that last bit when he's scorching everyone in the Challanger is worth the price of admission alone.
I was surprised that Tully was able to pass up all the main characters in about a minute, especially since that Army guy's girlfriend kept bragging about them having a big lead. Then again, they've all been driving on the same half-mile of highway for 600+ miles.
Tully's truck is an early 70s model Ford F100 or F150. Hard to tell the difference and I didn't really try to... My first vehicle was a '71 F100, 3 on the tree and no air conditioning!
Anybody notice that the traffic seems to be going the same direction on BOTH sides of the highway like the yellow line didn't even matter? Oh, and just FYI, he'll always be the Captain, and that makes him MIGHTY!!!
I think the yellow line separated the car pool lane from the rest of the lanes. I guess to keep people from changing back and forth between lanes. Everything was happening very fast though, so I could be wrong.
You may be right, I just figured they were shooting on an abandoned highway they hadn't bothered to repaint. BTW, it was great to see 'Jubal Early' say "Something doesn't seem right." Not quite the line, but close enough.
