    Give it a shot.

to me this "preserve the Earth as it was before humans" strikes me as a vague worship the Earth religion type of thing.

No more valid or invalid than any religious concept.

    Oh please.

Henry Kissinger was a bungling Sec. of State.

    Hardly a war criminal.

Some raids into Cambodia and the occasional bombing over there don't rise to that level

Now, if you are going to blame Kissinger for abandoning South Vietnam and the subsequent slaughter over there, then you would have a better point.

    Occasional bombing raids my ass.

"Anything that flies on anything that moves" - Henry Kissinger, ordering the bombing of Cambodia.

And from Wikipedia's entry on Laos.

Almost all my supervisors (when I joined the Air Force as a Bomb Loader in 1980) were part of this when they were younger. They were humping bombs 24/7 for days on end!

They used 4 man bomb loading crews, but you really only need 3 people. So on some crews (way before drug testing of course) every 4th night was your turn to take the night off to get high/drunk if you wanted.
Man, that is some old-school shit right there.

Any source that calls the USAF the USAAF is questionable from my point of view. I'd be interested in a bit more reliable source than Wiki considering I can go in and change things up to my liking.

    Fine.

Well, first of I ain't the type to say "preserve the Earth as it was before humans". That is just plain stupid. Nor do I prey at the alter of the earth either. The way I look at it is that the Earth is our home... You wouldn't destroy your home would you? You wouldn't Shit and piss all over your house, would you?

    The Wikipedia is grossly incorrect.

97% of U.S. bomb tonnage in the Vietnam War was dropped on SOUTH VIETNAM.

Mainly on largely unoccupied jungle areas.

Or so says the Oxford Companion To Military History

It might be incorrect in details but in spirit it's correct since US did drop more tonnage of bombs during the Vietnam war than the total sum of all the bombs dropped throughout history before that war. Still this neither support or deny Henry Kissinger's war criminal status.

Have you ever done ANY traveling? ever seen ANY national parks, or anything of the sort?

Let's take a look at the Everglades, for instance. It's attitudes like yours that said "God damn swampland. Drain that fucker so we can build more houses!"

So we got canals to drain it, and Australian malaleuca trees to help the job. Then, when they realized how much that was really fucking the whole ecosystem up, they tried to reverse it. Ran the canals back the other way. But, we still have the malaleucas, infesting this area. All because someone like you said "Who gives a fuck? Pave it over."

Now, about the rest of my post...or can you not come up with any refutations for that?

I doubt Dayton's been any further than Little Rock.

It's a given he's never been to Yosemite or to the Sequoyas. If he had, he'd "get it."

Who exactly is arguing that that is what should be done, rather than trying to preserve the Earth so that it's fit for human (and other) habitation centuries from now?

I'd love to see him reconcile his own beliefs with the fact that those very beliefs have wreaked havoc with Florida's ecosystem.

So a source that contains a typo can be dismissed as "questionable"?

What you've said doesn't contradict what Wikipedia says, at least in that quote. Just because 97 percent of bomb tonnage was dropped on SV doesn't mean that more bombs were dropped on Laos than worldwide during WWII, that those bombs totaled 2 million tons, or that they destroyed the infrastructure of Laos.

    Here's Wikipedia's source.

    http://www.journalismfellowships.org/stories/laos/laos_bombs.htm

    and another from USA Today.

    http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2007-03-06-laos-caves-tourism_N.htm

This from a UN official in Laos:

These are major war crimes, and Kissinger was responsible.

Making life unbearable isn't a war crime.

A war crime requires the massive, unjustified, taking of lives.

I don't give a fuck what you consider a war crime Dayton. It's only recently that you defended blowing up civilian airliners and previously you agreed with military action against medical facilities, among other things.

I'm confident that anyone sane considers the obliteration of all civilian infrastructure to the extent that tens of thousands of people need to resort to living in caves - added to a policy of deliberately causing starvation, which I can also quote for you - a war crime.

When taken into account the source itself is questionable and should never be taken as gospel, it doesn't help.

Aside fron all of the allegations towards Dayton on something I have not seen let me get this straight. If this is your criteria for considering an event a war crime, does that extend back to WWII? How about all of those folks in London, or even Berlin where the infrastructure was decimated and pounded into dust? Does that count as such?

I do not. I'm not a pacifist by any means, and the things I'm talking about here are very extreme indeed.
