Today has been a dark day for me.

A couple of hours ago, while hanging out with some friends, the election came up as it often does. The makeup of the three-person group is myself (aka Mighty Whitey), my best frend who is a proud liberal and another friend who is a 'fuck politics I don' care' kinda girl.

In the past, I told my liberal friend that I'm not in the mood to chat about politics and I didn't want to ruin a beautiful day. Every now and then, I'll give her 5 or 10 minutes because she's persistent as hell. The soapbox is never too far away.

But this time, I've decided to engage. I guess more than anything, I wanted to make sure she wasn't as far gone as Liet, garamet and bryce.

Both of us took turns explaining the platform of the left and right mindsets in general before getting into the details of the current candidates. My liberal friend kept getting more flustered with me correcting some of the things she said.

Near the end of the policy debates, I brought up the worship for Obama and the cult that it created.

And then it happened. "You have a problem with him because he's black" she said. :wtf:

When I let her know in my usual charming way what I thought about her at the moment, she started rambling off a a bunch of bullshit including something about me calling him 'Black Jesus' proves it. So, my friend interrupted and reminded her that I didn't. In fact I've always used 'The Lamb of Chicago' (my favorite), 'The Chosen One', 'The Obamessiah' and 'The Saviour' around her. Surely his name is worthy of more holiness than just 'Black Jesus'. Right? :soholy:

After I thought the dust had settled, she took it a step further and displayed her contempt for everything between the coastlines. ESPECIALLY the south where she finds herself for the past couple of years. She's an Army wife from California, by the way.

I have a bet going on right now with 2 of my friends still in Atlanta on which of us would be the first to have the race card played against us.

To come up with a bet, I had to think about who I knew that would possibly do that. Never once, did I think she would sink that low. Even when I want to believe that not all liberals are foaming-at-the-mouth loonitics, shit like this goes down. It's discouraging.

I've come face to face with one of the realities of this election. The left are in such an emotionally panicked state right now, that they'll do anything because they can't control the flood. Even the people you think you can trust will turn on you in a heartbeat. This is much more about winning an election. It's revenge for two 'stolen' elections.

After thinking about it, I'm making this prediction and standing by it.

When Obama wins, we will experience a period of hyper racial sensitive like we haven't seen in half a century. It's coming. The signs are here.

And now I just found out that I have to fly out to the corporate office the first week in November. The homebuilder I work for is in deep shit. The word is that this recovery will now take longer than we're going to last.

    Yep. Bad day.

Yes, clearly it's just the left that's in a heightened emotional state about the election.

Aside from the tingly feeling he gets running up his leg whenever anyone calls him a racist or a liar, what exactly was Sokar's point with this thread? :mystery:

Four lefties, and a couple of smartasses.

    Not bad, Sokar.

The truth is, it's natural for Obama supporters to become defensive because there's little else on which they can hang their hat of support.

"The guy's eloquent/really smart" is about the highest conviction argument I've been able to find outside of blind faith.

"Change" it appears, is simply a blank check to people looking for some.

    I know you mock everything.

I used the "Obamaton" epithet in one thread where it was part of the title. I agree that, like everything, when an expression is overused it becomes annoying.

    Hella-cool. Nanny-gate. Fuck-me-in-the-ass.

The Obama the Messiah message (with buzzwords like Obamaton) is one that's still pretty new, and shouldn't piss anyone off that much - unless it hits closer to home than someone wants to admit.

You want to criticize McCain, you can call him a Bush-clone, which is what the left has been doing since before he was nominated. You can call him a walking corpse. Won't bother me. Especiall if it's true or close to home.

Right from the beginning the devout Obama followers began talking in terms of rapture, or damn near. That's no shit. The right-wing didn't make it up, they just ran with it. Why stress it?

It seems to be all the Obama people can do is call anyone who isn't a follower a racist. This will only get worse should he win.

    You're hopeless. Pun intended.

Why do you assume I want to dog McCain? I'm not out to upset you. Is this the game you are playing?

You're telling people its no big thing. Don't stress on it. Those commenst don't all of a sudden make it all good.

Personally, I don't fully get where ya coming from. When anyone uses those derogatory terms, THEY ARE THE BAD GUYS. Why should anyone thing that they are being even handed?

Its not a stretch in the least to see it as a bit racist.

Sorry pal. I'd recognize that Obama is inexperienced and unqualified (president not an entry level job) just as clearly if he were white.

You're the one bringing up the fact that he's black, which is truly meaningless to me.

He as/more liberal than Kerry or Hillary and most of the worst possible candidates the Dems could have put forward. Which is just another handful of strikes against him. Nothing to do with his race. A duck is a duck.
