Didn't anybody else enjoy their senior prom? For me it wasn't something I ever planned on attending but my girlfriend insisted on going. And I'm glad she did, she was as beautiful as beautiful can be, I'd like to think I was looking dapper as well, we dined, we danced, we ended the evening together. It was an all around goodness. Your mileage may vary but I'd never claim the prom is a scorn-worthy nothing. For more than some it's a good time.
No no. I wasn't speaking of the "big things" that a lot, even most, churches would agree on - and i wouldn't have cited those things in public even if I needed them to make my point. My point was PRECISELY that SOME churches would judge her (and by extension you) for, in my opinion, obviously ridiculous things. The whole point was that you can find SOME religion that will call pretty much anything immoral. Which makes the whole exercise of pointing a finger and saying "Behold the decadence!" kind of futile in a free society.
I enjoyed the prom. It may have had nothing to do with education, but it was a good high school memory.
^ And that pretty well sums up the whole thing for me, which is why I don't consider it particularly important
OMG, is that all? I mean, it's not like they put them in a cage or hung signs around their necks or tried to lynch them. How very unreasonable of these girls not to comply with these *very reasonable* demands. Is there a word for "tool to the nth degree"? If there isn't, I'll have to coin one just for you.
Whereas I think it should be a private event organized by the class when, how, and if they want it. The school shouldn't have anything to do with it.
nova your point is well taken--but its not really a free society.. Every decadent action you take has consequences that hurt others. Which was what I was really trying to point out yesterday and dude missed the point of what I was trying to say. He did say you have the right to be immoral as long as it dont hurt anybody else. But immorality hurts everybody
That's a fair point but is difficult on two points. Some would say masturbation is immoral - who doe it hurt? a lot would say drinking is immoral - but if I'm having a beer say once or twice a month, who am I hurting? The second point is not unlike the first but is more specific - who gets to define what is immoral? Rape immoral? We can all agreee. Getting high? Many if not most would agree. A woman cutting her hair? Maybe not very many. Point being - immorality (in practical terms) is defined by, essentially, who holds the power to say so - whether that's a majority of the population or an individual. Don't misunderstand, I believe that there are absolutes - I just think humans are notoriously imperfect in discerning what the absolutes are, while being very eager to CLAIM they know.
I see your point but youre still missing mine. the absolutes are there and those are the only ones that lead to moral decay. I am not worried one damn bit what society thinks is immoral. As I stated before its a lot different when the KJV says its immoral
By the way... The district had a simple solution - look the other way now....and then in a month or two change the policy so that in future years proms are private functions "because of liability"...and you can tell the judgmental folk that got snotty about the lesbian you were REALLY doing it so that would never happen again, wink/nod.
No sexual act between consenting adults, regardless of gender or numbers, is immoral. It would take a real piece of shit redneck like yourself to come around slinging buzzwords like "moral decay" because some people are gay. Our society's "moral decay" is most evident in retards like yourself who clamour against free expression and for oppression ostensibly to "protect society;" in reality you're naught but a hateful, pathetic little man whose narcissistic cravings can only be satisfied by attacking minorities, and everybody can see that. Fuck you.
Try to explain that to her husband when he comes home earlier than expected and catches the two of you in the act. Just try to explain it...
Oh I get what you mean - but I remind you again that even different people who BOTH say "the KJV is the last word" come to different conclusions about what the KJV says is immoral.
