You don't actually put the herb in the brownies. You distill the THC into cooking oil before you make them, basically by simmering ground up pot in however much oil (olive works best because it has the highest fat content and thus can absorb the most) the recipe calls for, then making the brownies as you normally would. If done right, they'll taste totally delicious and there won't be any detectable sign of the pot whatsoever until you get high.

You don't actually eat the marijuana. Just dumping weed straight into your brownie mixture would give a shit taste and probably not do much since most of the THC would stay locked up in it.

What happens is that the weed is cooked in hot oil (usually butter) which leeches all the goodies out. The plant material is then strained out, leaving a THC rich butter which can be used for pretty much any recipe where butter or oil is called as an ingredient.

On the subject of cooking with actual herb, though...

It's way more potent than any confection-based concoction, and since I've always been more of a tea person anyway, it's one of the preferred ways of consumption...

Not surprised it messes you up for a while, from what I understand that cooking process probably wouldn't get much of the THC out, meaning it would be entering your system slowly as it digested.

You just put pot in a tea bag.

It's a very useful little plant. Almost anything you can think of can be made in such a way that it'll be THC positive. Pot hamburgers? Just fry 'em in THC oil. Ice cream? It's a bit harder, but very doable. Soda, pills, calamari, ribs: they can all get you high.

Male plants will grow little things out of the stem joints at an early stage. If you don't kill them then, once the plants hit puberty the joint things graduate into little nasty looking pustules/sacs. They grow these instead of buds.

Now I know nothing about THC or pot, but I do know my cooking oils, and that sounds suspect. All oils contain very close to the same amounts of fat per unit volume. Per unit mass, they are identical. What olive oil does have is the highest monounsaturated fat content (69% oleic acid), but unless the THC actually binds to carbon chain in the empty spot, olive oil shouldn't be any better than any other oil (and in fact could be much worse). If the THC is binding to the carbon chain, your basically making the olive oil rancid.

Maybe Alton Brown (Hallowed Be His Name) should do an extra special episode of Good Eats on the subject...
