This is an issue I'd never quite considered. I just assumed (rather naively I guess) that one man's sperm would never be used to father so many children. It raises concerns of accidental incest, concerns over less diverse gene pools, as well as a violation of the sperm donor's contract. As more couples and individuals are seemingly turning to alternative methods of conception, these are concerns that should be addressed and perhaps the sperm donation industry should be regulated as suggested. Thoughts?
Aren't there cases out there where sperm donors have been forced to pay child support? Can you imagine what would happen if one of these people with 150 kids got nailed en masse?
Well, fuck. Time to go see about finding a sperm bank to make a deposit in... what was her name again?
I thought this would have been something that would have been in place years ago. Women have to go thought interviews and mental screening before donating eggs to make sure this person realizes exactly the gravity of what they're doing. Why shouldn't there be some regulation similar to that at a sperm bank?
The fact that there's no limit is shocking. The 'recommendation' of not more than 25 per 800,000 means a man could have 300 children walking around the New York Metro area and still be in compliance.
