Honestly, it could do them some good to get out of the red states and hold a convention in a big blue area. If you want to change people's minds then you have to go where the people who disagree with you live. Maybe seeing the party in action will change some minds and help to turn a blue state a bit redder.

They could have the party conventions in Saskatchewan, and apart from the PR fallout, it wouldn't make a difference. They're all about the TV coverage, and while it's true that lots of delegates from all over the country descend on the host city, a bunch of party loyalists who are all fired up by being with people who agree with them all day are unlikely to make the best ambassadors to people on the other side.
