Ya' know this guy has to have "people". How could they not have stopped this? Why did the editors of Business Week not step in?

    Works for me.

Granted, I haven't finished reading it yet, but know it upsets you tells me it's probably good.

    Okay, makes sense.

More like "WF knows better than the people who are actually involved."

And Jamey Whistler is the smartest guy in the room.

Yeah, heaven forbid the money comes from the people that can actually afford it.

    His assertion is logically bankrupt.

Without the venture capital he provided, no business would be formed and no jobs would be created.

That's like saying that sparks don't create fires, only the guy who continually throws logs on the fire creates fires.

If you're trying to create a bigger fire, what do you add, more sparks or more logs?

"The" money. And where does it go?

The big, blurry gap in this whole sentiment is the implied connection between taxing the rich and everyone else having jobs and/or more money. As if they're going to take money from a rich person and pay you work on something, or just give it to you outright. Am I going to pay less in taxes if you get your wish? No. Will I have more money in my bank account? No. Will stable, good-paying job rain from the heavens? No.

All you'll get is the symbolic gratification of some person you've never met, surrendering money that never was or will be yours.

As opposed to the implied connection between taxing the middle class instead of the rich and everyone else having jobs and/or more money? Because that's the "job creator" argument in a nutshell.

Please note that I was not commenting on where tax dollars get spent, merely where they come from. That is another argument entirely. So actually, YES, you very well might pay less in taxes and have more money in your pocket.

You'll not see me advancing an argument that taxing anyone "creates" jobs. Not unless it's a government job, anyway.

I don't disagree that there are legitimate complaints about the way our clusterfuck of a tax code is applied, but the leap from there to blaming rich folks for everything that's wrong with my life is not one I'm willing to make.

I don't blame them for everything that is wrong in my life.

I do however blame some of them for the massive fraud perpetuate on the world economy recently, and would like to see them shot in the head.

No, really. Connect the dots for me. "We got no jobs and no money, plus college is, like, way too expensive, man. So we'll collect taxes on all that juicy investment wealth, and then....."

And then WHAT? Uncle Sam gonna cut you a check?

Whelp, I don't know what to make of this guy's solutions, but I do know the "job creator", rhetoric/meme is binary-thinking sloganeering to please the egos of the simpleminded, and a real discussion can't be had until it's properly kicked in the balls.
So, I'm with him that far.

And all the usual idiots that spout out how overtaxed we are should just shut the fuck up, because it's ridiculous spin.

You guys blather on about that ad nauseum and have done so for years.

What I love is how they manage to reconcile "THIS IS THE BEST DAMN COUNTRY IN THE WORLD ['cause Ted Nugent sez so]!!!" with "But Gubmint sux and we're being taxed to death!1!1!!" :sob:

    You're entering Lietville.

How can one be "lying" by expressing an opinion?

In such a hurry to demonize your political enemies, I think.

If one thought that country and government are synonomous, I imagine that statement would be somewhat confusing.

Our income taxes may be low, but all the additional taxes are getting ridiculously expensive.

One might remember that anyone who made that argument prior to January 2009 was labeled a traitor in these parts.

Then again, one might think that a country with a lower tax rate would be superior to a country whose tax structure is apparently choking the life out of you.

    No he is not.

Additionally there are billions of dollars wasted every year by all levels of government in this country. They do not deserve one more dime of our money until that waste is severely curtailed.

Not really. Certainly not from my perspective. I'm in the political minority where I live, and very little my government does serves me in any way. It certainly doesn't reflect my values or my priorities.

My vision of America is a land where people are free to do what they want, subject only to the same rights in others. But that's not the vision that's being pushed.

So, no, I consider my country and my government to be very different things. I love one and (most of the time) loathe the other.
