Lowe's has the right to advertise or not advertise on any show they choose. Lieu is full of shit. I read about this last night on a different website and posters in the comments section were comparing Lowe's to the KKK. :koolbang:
Talk about a bullshit comparison! BTW, if you're building a cross to burn, check out these bargains! BTW use Southern pine if possible....just sayin' http://www.lowes.com/pd_76356-10926...rrentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=4+x+4+timber&facetInfo=
Here it is. Scroll down and read the comments. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/lowes-pulls-ads-tlc-show-271983 More hippie stink than an Ancalagon thread.
The bit about looking to see if any California laws were broken is BS, as is the later First Amendment reference ... but at the same time, customers have the right to do business with anyone they choose, and to stay away from a business that capitulates to the demands of bigots if they choose.
Michigan, Minnesota. Same difference. Those state abbreviations fuck with me sometimes, too. The post office shoulda just numbered the fucking things. Then I wouldn't have to keep Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, and Montana straight.
Hey I thought there was supposed to separation of church and state. (because a Senator opened his pie hole and bitched) Or does that only apply if the church = Christian?
Yeah, because numerical references with no point of reference are easier. Perhaps they could number them by alphabetical order, and add it to the front of the ZIP code As for Keith Ellison, he is a Moslem who serves one of the most Moslem districts in the US: The MN 5th District. Clinton and MN Democrats sent 50,000 Moslems to Minneapolis. I have personally seen Somalians beat their women in the streets while other Somalians looked on (and I intervened), and because of this find it hilarious that they're focused on bigotry.
Yup. So long as he's threatening a boycott as a private citizen and not in his position as a congressman, I don't see a problem here.
If a sponsor pulled its ads from a Christian show because some group claimed it was "propaganda that riskily hides the Christian agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values," I'd be calling for a boycott.
Here's a sampling of what's popular on sandbox TV right now: How I Beat Your Mother The Pig Bang Theory :santa_shocked: Terra Bomba That 700's Show Two And a Half Men (American Military E.O.D. Bloopers & Blunders!) :santa_shocked:
What's with democrats and calling for boycotts? I had this talk with a liberal friend - sure, raise a stink and write letters to the management if you want to, but don't take it out on the innocent employees who have no say in company policy and need their jobs.
Reminds me of a Cuban propoganda movie called Soy Cuba (I am Cuba). Fidel and Pals burn a poor guys farm to the ground. But it's okay, because he was getting exploited anyway. Then he turns that frown upside-down and starts farming again but it's cool because it's for a good cause now (The Revolution). :santa_angry:
When are some of you going to learn to figure out when a politician is pandering? Torrance has a large Arab and Persian population and this guy is up for reelection next November so of course he's just grandstanding and pandering. No, he can't get any laws passed in the legislature, he knows this, but he doesn't need to actually do any of that. What he does need to do is grandstand, stir the pot, and make sure the Muslims in his district see that he's doing it so he can get their vote come Nov. That's all this is about and nothing else will come of it. On the upside Torrance and Anaheim are both great places to go for cheap but good Lebanese food. :santa_ok:
I think Lowe's are a bunch of shitbags for doing this, but other than that, it's their own choice. What I really don't understand are all these politicians making bullshit claims about the 1st amendment, don't they know it's irrelevant here?
I suppose you also feel that all Catholics are collectively guilty for the IRA's terrorist attacks? Oh, of course not.
If they had wanted to impress people as Muslim Americans, then they would have spoke up against what happened on 911 and denounce those who did that as not true members of their religion. Instead their silence spoke volumes.
You're sure the cast members of "All American Muslim" didn't speak up against the events of 9/11/01? I mean, you wouldn't say this if you hadn't spoken to each one individually, right? You're SURE these individual people were silent, yes?
Since nobody Muslim spoke out against it, I consider them part of that nobody. I was watching the TV pretty much 24/7 along with everybody else back then, and Muslims in America didn't speak out against it at all. All they spoke out about was their rights. whaa wha wha! If they want to hide behind their religion, then they need to accept the consequences of what their hateful religion has done and is doing at this moment. You don't hear people calling themselves Baptist-Americans or Catholic-Americans.
Are you deaf? Just about every major Muslim group condemned 9/11 and most spoke out against terrorism in general. What do you want them to do? Tattoo it on your ass so you finally get the message? You probably do. :santa_rolleyes:
