Above it is suggested that Borgs didn't know about the duplicate board. In any event, you stil aren't answering this question'.... You can keep repeating how you think his actions were out of order, but that doesn't answer this question, which several people have now asked.
Call me crazy, but I generally don't invite people the chance for another round when the last I saw them they were in the midst of a revenge vendetta and out to destroy something I care about. It seems to me if he had grown up and was interested in being a part of WF again he would have contacted Elwood or Lanzman by now and said something like: "Hey...I know things went to hell and I acted like a tit, but it's been a long time and I'm older and I don't care about all that stuff anymore and I miss being a part of Wordforge...can I come back??" But he hasn't. And what he did was bad enough that...yeah...I think he needs to make an effort to come back. If he isn't sorry enough to apologize or care enough to make an effort, then the risk is still there that an unbanning could lead to more bullshit from him. If he's more mature now, he can prove it. Until then, no, I don't trust him.
Oh, and I don't know for sure if he knew about the duplicate board. I do know it was not held over his head as leverage. Nick probably is the only one who knows if Borgs was aware of the other board.
How can he prove it if he is shut out? If he feels that there has been a concerted effort ot get rid of him then clearly there is resentment on both sides. Do you honestly think anyone with those sorts of feelings is going to send you an email begging to come back? Come on, use your head a bit. Also, I read the links you posted above. It's a bit disingenuous to say that he was trying to get the board shut down. In neither thread does he report the board. Rather he simply asks questions of the vBulletin people. Sure, he is disgruntled, but as soon as he asks his questions, Nick and Elwood are there to discuss the matter and neither thread goes any further. That's hardly, in my view, some big great attack on the board. Plus, for the third time I'll ask it, what exactly is it he can do to the board now that a ban cures?
What I find puzzling is that your account of what happened, Elwood's, other boards members' and the threads you linked to, all seem to have a slightly different take on events.....and naturally the aso conflict with Borgs's take on events as set out in the vB threads. So, what this tells me is that someone in all this isn't telling the full story. But, since none of us were privy to all the PMs at the time, I guess we won't know whose account is the most accurate.
I have to disagree with something you said there. Borgs was not acting like a tit. Tits are good and Borgs was a pure douchenozzle. He started doing some really crazy shit like banning the use of certain words on the board and using the board's controls to do it. One of them was "permaban". If you tried to post the word "permaban", the board blanked it out. We had to start using "stealth permaban". I believe it was the brilliance of Baba who came up with that idea. He created a clipart with "stealth permaban" on it as a way of defeating Borgs' ban of permaban. So yeah, fuck Borgs.
You call yourself a lawyer, or is that a barrister? You should know well when witnesses are testifying, there will be discrepencies in their statements because they are expessing memories based on their individual perspectives and every witness will give a slightly different version of the story.. They're not lying, but their perspectives give them a certain bias.
Really? On a board that will take back Hood even if it means losing thelurker (which I consider the right thing to do although it pains me), I find that an unexpected change in policy. For better or worse, the interesting thing about WF to me is the extent of freedom and the variety that comes from that. From everything said about Borgs' mistakes, and the treatment by others that went along with those mistakes, I don't see why he should be the one bad apple left out of this affectionately rotting pie.
If there is still enough resentment he can't ask to come back, then why would he want to be here? Other people have no problem asking to return when they want to...he can do the same thing.
AFAIK, neither Cass nor Storm asked to come back either until they were invited by staff. Of course Borgs might not be at all interested; I'm just saying he should be welcome if he is.
Obviously you've not been following the conversation. Borgs was trying to use the board's member list to register all of us on a board that was engaged in an illegal activity and caused the board to be taken down by the hosts. Then he contacted vBulletin and tried to have Wordforge shut down. I don't pirate any films, music, software, etc., and I don't want to be associated with it. I don't want my account here associated with it. If Borgs wants to torrent, he can party on, but don't drag me into it. I don't want the FBI knocking on my door over pirating that I had nothing to do with.
Well, hot damn, I'll be a better man in the office tomorrow for that! Thanks. Btw, barristers, solicitors, legal executives, and the American term attorney - all lawyers. "Lawyer" is a collective term for anyone who is trained in and practices the law.
Storm wasn't banned. Cass was, but she never wished the board ill. Hey...it's not my call. If Lanzman wants to make it easy on him, he can, I'm just saying I wouldn't and it's because he hasn't made one bit of effort that would indicate he's changed at all and until he does, I wouldn't trust him or do I think he deserves open arms or the benefit of the doubt after his crap.
Indeed. It seems utterly silly to tolerate overt racism, religious bigotry, homphobia and high level trolling, yet get all upset about a couple of questions in a vB message board.
He also e-mailed them about getting the license yanked. Geez. It was a whole bunch of shit he pulled. And if it doesn't bother you....great. Other people disagree. Maybe you'll convince Lanzman of your view.
Attitudes like this why this planet is full of shithole war zones. It's always the other side who has to make the first move. Lifting his ban would be an olive branch. I, for one, have no idea where he may be these days, so he may never know about it, but should he want to come back then the chance is there. If he came back perhaps the respective parties, hopefully more mature years down the line, may be able to make their peace. If, on the other hand, he comes back and does something dodgy, then ban him! But, for the fourth time, I will ask you, what threat does he pose that his ban is preventing? I never asked to return. People on Facebook suggested I did based on the new atmosphere (which seems to be vanishing quickly). Cass never asked to return, you emailed her. Anc's big plan for getting more people posting here is to contact old members asking them to come back. So it doesn't seem to me that it's only ever a case of people emailing in begging to come back off their own cuff.
You're assuming falsely that Lanz WANTS to extend some sort of olive branch, or accomodate anyone wanting Borgs back.
Here's a bigger clue for you: Borgs isn't banned. "Borgs" isn't even a member here. If Borgs wanted to come back, he could have, years ago. In fact, maybe he has under another name and no one knows it because he has matured...I have no idea. But whether he was still a threat or not, he does not deserve a big welcome back after what he did. He'd have to show a different attitude before I'd believe he'd changed.
Like I have it? I've never seen it. It's Elwood's. I just don't believe Elwood would lie about something like that.
I'm not sure anyone "wants" him back. Frankly I couldn't care a less if he's back or not. But the board policy regarding him seemed like a valid discussion at a time when there is much debate about getting old members to post again, and allowing formely banned people back in.
If he has matured I for one wouldn't mind him coming back. Whenever I think of online auctions I think of his keyboard and get a laugh. Plus, it couldn't hurt in getting miniborg back.
She stayed a couple years after Borgs left. She left because her life got busy, not because of her brother. College, I believe.
Not sure I believe this. If you had spotted his IP then surely a registered account, even under a different name, would have been banned. Who is talking about a big welcome? I don't think I can put it any better than Dicky has. Oh, and you still haven't said what threat he poses.
Fuck him. He tried to involve the posters in an illegal activity without their knowledge or consent and then tried to get vBulletin to kill the board. Nobody burned that bridge but Borgs. miniborg is welcome anytime she wants to come back.
