So, which hardliner made it. Also, if he calls himself Pius whatever, St. Malachy will certainly see a surge in book sales
Will apparently be 20 to 30 minutes before the new pope is announced. I guess all those cardinals have to take their shrivelled dicks out of the choir boys and clean up before they face the press.
I'd like to see these giddy news-zombies have the balls to be consistent, and try to make a nationwide social occasion out of the election of some fucking Mullah. See how this dumb country would react to that. I think it would be interesting.
The Pope is the head of the entire Catholic church. "Some mullah" is roughly the equivalent of a local priest.
The difference is, no one mullah has ever historically claimed to be the capo di tutti capi of all of Islam. Popes have them beat on that.
50 minutes since the white smoke first appeared and no announcement. Man, there must have been one hell of a lemon party in the Sistine Chapel.
Holy shit, the guy making the announcement is so old he was probably around when Christ was crucified.
Interesting, guy seems to be a moderate, so not much likelihood of a Vatican 3, but then again, he probably won't try to push back on Vatican 2.
Oooohh! A Pope from the new world! They're cruising right along! In 2150, they might let in a brown one!
Interesting. Now that guy is a mighty strong signal that shit might finally move forward. Tidbits from TV: Not a lover of glamour, goes to the supermarket to shop for groceries himself and uses public transport to get around. Seems like a good choice, a choice close to the people everywhere. I'm certainly surprised and impressed, for the first time in many, many years. Of course we will see how he turns out. He's not my pope so I will keep watching.
Yeah. I'm not a catholic either, but the election of a Pope is a significant event in world history. So there's no denying the guy has an impact. We'll see.
The shift to a choice from the developing world is significant. Love it or hate it, the Catholic church is still strongly influential, particularly in Latin cultures, and if there's even a spark of motivation for reform, we'll see it now.
Francis on same-sex marriage: "[A] machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God." Sigh.
