I'd be more likely to believe Benghazi was "news" if similar embassy attacks had received anywhere near as much attention from the same people when a Republican was in the White House.

    1) I do not remember Republican admin. claiming such attacks were caused by an obscure anti Muslim video.

    2) I do not remember Republican admin. failing to send military forces that were within easy flying distance to assist embassies which were attacked.

    I don't read either.

Do I need to bump the 2012 election prediction thread to remind you dittoheads that while Fox News may tell you what you want to hear, that doesn't make it true.

Considering all the indicators that she's a classic sociopath, the idea of her holding any job description other than "barista at Starbuck's" should scare the shit out of anyone.

I'm not a Republican, but she scares me and I think Rand Paul nailed it: she should have been fired and she should never hold office again.

How old will she be in 16? She was one of the best Sec States we've had in a while. Last I saw her popularity was at the upper end of what is possible during normal times.

If she isn't too old I think the Republicans have good reason to be afraid. She would be a very solid pick.

As she didn't do that, you shouldn't have a problem with her. But she scares you so much for other reasons, you'll tell whatever lie you think might stick. This one won't stick, which is why it's so funny to watch the OMG Benghazi hysterics.

Hasn't she said repeatedly that she's not going to run?

Unless Obama ferociously implodes in the next two years, my money's on Elizabeth Warren.

In a bigger-picture sense, I think you're forgetting that the things Fox News commentators obsess about and the things the general public care about are not always the same.

In a more direct sense, the only thing that matters for the nomination is what Democratic primary voters think. Warren is well-positioned to sell herself as "the next Obama," and if Democratic primary voters still like Obama in two years, that could be enough.

Gates: Benghazi Critics Have 'Cartoonish' View of Military Capability

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates forcefully defended the Obama administration on Sunday against charges that it did not do enough to prevent the tragedy in Benghazi, telling CBS' "Face the Nation" that some critics of the administration have a "cartoonish impression of military capabilities and military forces."

Gates, a Republican who was appointed by then-President George W. Bush in 2006 and agreed to stay through more than two years of President Obama's first term, repeatedly declined to criticize the policymakers who devised a response to the September 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens.
"Frankly, had I been in the job at the time, I think my decisions would have been just as theirs were," said Gates, now the chancellor of the College of William and Mary.

"We don't have a ready force standing by in the Middle East, and so getting somebody there in a timely way would have been very difficult, if not impossible." he explained.

Suggestions that we could have flown a fighter jet over the attackers to "scare them with the noise or something," Gates said, ignored the "number of surface to air missiles that have disappeared from [former Libyan leader] Qaddafi's arsenals."

"I would not have approved sending an aircraft, a single aircraft, over Benghazi under those circumstances," he said.

You seem to be having difficulty understanding the difference between laughing at someone who constantly says stupid things, like Palin does, and Republicans jumping to smear Hillary because they know she's probably going to trounce them in 2016.

Personally, I'd still prefer someone who doesn't have the last name Bush, Clinton, Kennedy, etc... As I don't like seeing public offices passed back and forth like feudal titles plus I want to see some fresh blood in politics. That said, there isn't a Republican candidate who can beat Hillary, they know it, and that's why they're so obviously desperate to run her down over nonsensical things.

Two things: 1) Palin would only scare me if I thought she could win; 2) anybody with half a brain should be afraid of the idea that somebody like Palin appeals to anybody. Purposeful stupidity in the service of politics is a sad thing indeed.

"Suggestions that we could have flown a fighter jet over the attackers to "scare them with the noise or something"

WTF? Who would suggest that? Are these primitive jungle dwellers who will be scared of the "big metal bird god" or something?

Anyway, I have no faith in the Republican Party. They will get trounced if they don't convince people to get off their asses and vote.

Theoretically, there are more conservatives than liberals in America. Thus if they all voted conservative Republicans would win.

Seemed to be plenty of fear in the air during that election season from what I saw, and Palin wouldn't have even been the President. :diacanu:
