Two things, actually. First, Volpone has now gone the full Midnight Funeral. Second, as a point of historic reference to our new members who might be puzzled by the vitriol being spread elsewhere, it should be noted that the majority of the significant changes to the Wordforge rule of law have come about at the - witting or unwitting - behest of two posters, Faceman and Tamar.
As a further guide to new members, Garamet is given to making unsupported assertions. Have your grain of salt ready.
Note to those just joining us: It is also SOP among some here to jump to conclusions because it's considered bad form to ask "What do you mean by that"? And "unsupported" in this particular instance means " not interested in finding out what you mean." Lanzman will now explain how no rule was ever instituted, altered, or expanded because Faceman found a hole in the existing rules and pushed until it was either changed or he ended up with a warning or both. As for me, I find WF a fascinating microcosm of "How to create your own universe and readjust as you go along."
What exactly is the point of this? Do you have an issue with some of the rules? If so, please start a thread in the helpdesk.
I think her point is that because I actually made changes sometimes when things were pointed out, I was a slave to Face and Tamar.
Jeez, I thought Archangel was the only Paranoid on Call today. Observation: WF started out as a frontier town and has evolved into a nation state, if you will. A lot of nonsense was gotten away with in the "We're not TNZ" days that isn't tolerated now. Two of the embodiments of "Why we don't put up with that sort of thing anymore" are Face and Tamar. I'm saying it's a Good Thing. Took long enough to get here, and I'm sure Face, at least, is still looking for places to push the envelope 'cause that's what he does, but we are here. Now everybody put it back in the holster and relax, willya? Sheesh...
All fine and good, but my concern is that a thread like this one is sort of a warning to new posters about something that shouldn't concern anybody, yet will no doubt have that impact just the same. Again, it's not clear why you decided to post this warning, therefore, I asked the question.
Hmmmmm........I'm beginning to get the idea that free speech and "dangerous" commentary are going to be discouraged using the rationalization that "it might frighten away new members." Kinda like how we're all supposed to "think of the children." May I remind you that what killed TBBS is over-moderation based on the faulty premise that people must always be protected from being "offended" (even though "offended" almost always meant "someone has disagreed with me and offered an opinion/argument I can't rebut, so I'm going to stomp my feet, piss my pants and whine until I get a mod to "punish" the guilty party.") A fairly simple observation that yeasty twat t'bonz will never acknowledge.
Not really flashlight. It's a matter of curiosity. I certainly don't want to frighten away new members, but this is the red room, people can behave as they see fit, with whatever maturity level suits their mood.
You aren't. You're probably one of the least important according to recent ratings. But things could look up. Market research indicates that more Faceman, more of the time will help you to achieve a higher ranking.
@Faceman is the only true hero among us, I'm glad @garamet has finally realized this. Does this thread mean @Tamar Garish is really a Faceman dual? Does this mean I now have to support Tamar as well? I'm not sure I'm up to such mental gymnastics. Perhaps Tamar is merely a false prophet and should be destroyed? What is thy bidding my master @Faceman?
Oh, really? And exactly what's the big change around here? It seems to me absolutely nothing of substance has been changed yet aside from the addition of John's board. So what sudden protections do you think you have now as compared to a couple months ago?
Clarification to those just joining us: We actually do ask "What do you mean by that" occasionally; however, those of us who have been associating for a very long time seldom need to, because we know each other well enough by now to know what so-and-so meant by that. Also, we just don't bother asking garamet anymore, because she has a proclivity, bordering on a mania, to never answer that question but instead dance around and play dumbass games instead. So we just don't ask anymore.
Not even the "frontier town" part? You've also been away for long periods, so you may have missed a few things.
