So for those of you who deep down believe there isn't any racism against whites. Yeah yeah, I know, you'll claim you never said that. You just imply it all the time, I provide the above.
Virtually everyone in the military who was ever stationed there will attest to this. It's always been like this.
I lived there for 10 years. The first 5 I felt like it was paradise. We drove around and gave lifts to strangers who were trying to get back to Honolulu from the beach on the North Shore. Never felt in danger. The last 5 years - well, let's just say that I had enough non-haole friends who watched my back and kept me safe.
From what I've seen of much of the Hawaiian work ethic, if all the white people left, it wouldn't take long for this place go full on third world. Also, if Hawaii became a separate nation where they could go full on hate Haole, we could watch their tourism drop by an order of magnitude. If you're going to have to go to another country for a tropical paradise, there is much better places than Hawaii, and they don't have a huge chip on their shoulder. To top it off, whatever we give back, they will just sell to Japan, so it will just become the most remote island in the Japanese chain. Have I mentioned I hate living here?
It's like what some of us were trying to 'splain to oldfella in another thread...any majority is going to try to marginalize its minority population if it needs a scapegoat. Given the history of Hawaii vis-a-vis Dole, Stevens, and the Marines circa 1893, a residual resentment against the current generation of haole shouldn't surprise anyone. Is ethnic discrimination ever right? Of course not. But as a reason to lament the fate of the Endangered White Man, this one's such a reach it's a wonder you didn't dislocate your shoulder. So, anecdotally, you hate living in Hawaii? Get on Craigslist and find a housing swap somewhere where you can be "among your own kind."

If people are being discriminated against based on their race, then that is wrong and needs to be rectified. I'm not sure what else can be said on that particular subject.
