The point is very simple. If your interpretation of the sermon on the mount is correct, that I am no more compelled to respect you beliefs that you say you don't need to mine.

Conversely, if my interpretation is correct then if you demand respect and courtesy that you should equally afford if, even if the opinion isn't one that accords with your own.
