Actually, it was Ancalagon that declared Wordforge dead a while back. Remember? When he threw a tantrum because he couldn't convince everyone to agree with his "derp & discouragement" agenda? That was when he started talking about how he was posting on local community boards, because people would listen to him there, and something about how the mayor of town had quoted something he wrote in a speech, or some such bullshit.

What have I ALWAYS said in reference to Wordforge, Anna? That there is potential here that the douchebags in control of the passwords have neither the intellect or motivation to capitalize upon.

Anyway, maybe I should have gone forward with my initial thought to force the domain name into auction status and purchase it.

I don't get why people expect this place to be a democracy. Gul is probably the most unfair and unbalanced mod this place has had in years....but that fact is that if he co-owns the place and is allowed to carry out such acts by the other owners, well that's just the way it is. It's a privately owned website after all.

It's no coincidence that registration dropped off considerably in 08 to 09, when FB began taking off and everyone can have their own vanity page. Maybe you, Volpone and your other shrill harpy boyfrirnd Archangel can make your own board and show us idiots how it's done.

I guarantee you that for the complaints that people have had about the post-Lanzman owners collectively or individually, most here would walk if you were in any position of leadership.

At any even, since you're apparently done with gul, who cares what he thinks, right? This whole place was created when someone spilled the beans about TBBS mods, maybe this will lead to a revolution that gives you a built in database when you get the board set up.

I don't think it's unreasonable. I also don't think it can be demanded. Ultimately nobody is forced to use the board. They can always walk away.

It's easy to say there are thousands of ways to build Wordforge's numbers, but if that were so, Wordforge would already be enormous, because we have tried every method in the book to improve membership tallies. The fact is that there aren't many options, and there are only so many things one can do to increase traffic to the site. When your site is a general discussion board, it doesn't stand a chance against major sites like Facebook, because they're built around that whole concept, and they can do it better because they have piles of money and other resources with which to make it happen. Message boards, in general, have seen a major drop off in activity, and it's because Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other sites have replaced them as social nerve centers.

When I ran my message board, I had the same thing coming from a member who believed we could be bigger if only we would do what he said. He had all these ideas, and so I let him have control for 3 months. In that time, nothing happened. We didn't improve, we didn't gain new members, we didn't have any new elements added to the board. At the end of the 3 months, he complained that I didn't do it right, even though I had let him have full control of how to manage the board the entire time. He had nothing, just like @The Flashlight has nothing. He talks a game he doesn't understand. It is very fucking hard to get people to not only join a site, but to stay. THAT is the key, and retention rates for message boards are falling, because unless you were already a member of one and have built up a friendship with a few members, you're unlikely to stay. Why shoot the shit with strangers when you can stay on Facebook or Twitter and share pictures with your friends, and post political memes?

Wordforge is alive because all of us work together to keep it alive. If any of the four horsemen, or the other Admins, or mods, or contributing members stopped working to make WF a fun place to be, it would be empty and fast. That is the reality of it. The same applies to sites like TrekBBS. Not to drag her in unless she wants to, but I'm sure @T'Bonz could tell you how involved you have to be to keep a message board running, even with teams of Admins and moderators. It's not the piece of cake @The Flashlight seems to think it is. He speaks more as a flim flam artist would, rather than as anyone with any experience running a message board.
