Like I said. ARs are freaking great against one regular old home invader too. Why limit yourself to something that's pretty good for home defense, when you have something that's freaking great at home defense?

20 gage auto-loaders are great at both home defense and mass slaughter. :)

What I don't get is this?

Why the movement after a mass shooting to ban or restricts weapons that ARE NOT EVEN USED IN THE SHOOTING?

Like the current furor over the AR-15 which it turns out the Orlando shooter didn't even use.

It makes about as much sense as a Boeing 767 going down with 300 plus people aboard due to a mechanical defect and the FAA deciding to ban the Airbus 300 from U.S. air space.

It's similar to an AR. I'm not familiar with this SIG rifle he used, but it looks like an AR-15 derivative that uses a gas piston system instead of gas impingement. ARs are pretty ubiquitous in the US, so that's what some people call "Assault Weapons". Kind of like calling Curads "Band-Aids" and store brand facial tissues "Kleenex".

I thought the AR-15 was the CIVILIAN version of the standard issued M-16 assault rifle that has been the primary weapon of the U.S. military since the Vietnam War?

    Once again the "CIVILIAN" model.

When was the last time you went hunting?:chris: My point is animals (like deer for example) do not drop that easy. So you don't need more shots if you miss. You need more shots because you don't want bambi running off to die because you didn't put another round into her. So unless you are hunting with a muzzle-loader or a bow & arrow, what would be the benefit of not having the capability of getting off another shot immediately?

Yep - one shot per trigger pull. That's why the AR-15 is a semi-automatic. And let's not get into "bump fire" or any goofy shit.

I have a gun control idea.

Congress can vote to ban handheld lasers and other directed energy weapons along with portable railguns.

Gets a few decades jump on weapons technology and the NRA probably won't care too much.

Counter-proposal. Let us have handheld lasers, but ban disruptors. :bailey:

A used a Remington model 1100 semi-auto 12 gauge once when I was a kid for goose/ducking - great gun! The geese had a different opinion.

Well, there's one problem with these conversations. No one seems to realize there are other environments in the world other than "around here."

Just from a recoil perspective the AR-15 out performs a shotgun in a home defense situation.

Police tactical teams that do house entries like two weapons: 12 ga shotgun for breaching, and the 9mm MP-5 submachine gun for the rest. Though it looks like the MP-5 is being replaced by M4s these days.

I've practiced clearing my house with my pump shotgun. It's too long to get it around corners easily, especially going to the right, and doing a sudden 180 in my narrow hallway could be a problem with a long gun. A .45 works nicely.

    I'd like to own a MP-5.

Even if it was just the semi-auto civilian version.

Yep. I keep a .45 in my nightstand in case I have to check things out at night. But I keep a Remington 870 12 gauge pump nearby for when I know trouble is coming to me.

Why did the blunderbuss fall out of favor for home defense? Those were awesome.

Well that just argues that we should crack down on gays.

    Or...

About 1 million Christian gay Americans have found out they have HIV, and over 300,000 Christian gays have died, and they didn't shoot anybody.

One Muslim finds out his partner has HIV and he goes into a gay bar and shoots over a hundred people with a rifle, killing 49.

You never know when he'll get mixed up with some kind of mafia hijinx, and have to escape from his house, firing his guns and humming the theme to the A-Team as he blows away the bad guys and somersaults out the second story window, dropping to the ground in a superhero landing. Soldier of motherfuckin' fortune, baby.

After, of course. Then again, I can't really fault him for having his guns at the ready. That's what the bad guy gets for breaking into the wrong goddamn rec room.
