Daily Mail 'You should never play in the NFL again. Move to Canada': 49ers fans burn Kaepernick jerseys to the national anthem after the $114million sport star refused to stand 'to protest black oppression' San Francisco 49ers fans have filmed themselves burning Colin Kaepernick jerseys to the national anthem after he refused to stand for it The $114million athlete stayed seated on Friday when the anthem played ahead of the 49ers clash with the Green Bay Packers Asked about his decision, Kaepernick said he refuses to feel pride in a country that mistreats 'black people and people of color' The quarterback has been outspoken on racial issues in the past and openly supports the Black Lives Matter movement Kapernick has an African American father but was raised by a white couple alongside their two children after being put up for adoption It looks like sports fans are pissed off. Army Ranger says Kaepernick is wrong and lazy “To disrespect the country that has afforded him the opportunities and fortunes he acquired is only made more offensive by the fact that his life is the personification of the ideals I see in the American flag and National Anthem: a biracial child, raised by white parents, and who has accomplished much despite his “oppression.” In how many more nations around the world can a story like that come to fruition? USA Today has some tweets from athletes Of course he wouldn't have anything to protest without the past eight years of "racial healing". ETA: Tweet with the video of the burning jersey
So the man who owes everything in his life to white people yet is condemning the nation for how it supposedly mistreats blacks?
He's such a hypocrite, too. He's paid the $114 million to keep black men from bringing him down, and to keep claiming territory defended by blacks.
Supposedly? And yet you have asked people to do just that on previous occasions. You aren't making much of a case against being one when you imply that black people are lying about oppression. I guess slavery and segregation were myths. That's as despicable an attitude as holocaust denial.
I think he is in a great position to voice his opinion because it's gonna piss off most football fans, who correct me if I'm wrong, are -150 in the brain cell department
I perform no empty rituals for non existent gods or inanimate objects like a flag. Out of respect for others when the national anthem or pledge of allegiance is being held, I'll be silent and stand up straight. I don't put my hand over my heart or anything. Same thing for prayers. I won't talk over them and will even hold hands. But I won't bow my head or close my eyes or anything. I have no problem with his protest. If you do, please explain why.
I am authorised by the school authorities to paddle students who disrespect the anthem by doing things like not standing or sneezing. I do agree with the policy so I have occasionally choked out students who were guilty of an offense. Parents should not complain so loudly when I do that IMHO. Useless whining.
Put another away. Which set of actions do you feel is more inline with the 'American Ideal': 1) Protesting government abuses of its' people 2) Proper performance of group rituals expressing solidarity and loyalty to the State?
Slavery and segregation were not in Colin Kaepernacks lifetime. Thus, to me he has no reason to be slamming American for it today.
Isn't it a bit ridiculous to protest how America treats African Americans when African Americans have succeeded at EVERY level of American society? In Colin Kaepernick terms that is like complaining that you should've won the Super Bowl 35-7 instead of 35-21. What difference does it make?
Ridiculous to make that comparison. Though in professional football which Kaepernick is a part of they succeed at a far higher rate than whites.
Going by that analogy, it's more like a 56-49 win for whites and saying well it was close...except that was a come from behind when minorities were losing 42 -3 in the third quarter. But going on a tangent to that, if the NFL kicks him off for this while they welcomed Michael Vick the dog baiter back with open arms and suspended those women beaters from a couple years back only because they couldn't sweep those recorded incidents under the rug, then they can get fucked
Vick served his time in prison and then devoted a considerable amount of his resources to animal rescues and things of that nature IIRC. Plus he was basically vouched for by Tony Dungy, one of the most highly respected men in the NFL. No sympathy for the women beaters though.
So it's not. It's how class based discrimination is proved in courts. Just because one black has achieved something doesnot mean racism is over or institutional racism is ended. That you can't understand that proves what a shitty autistic bigot you are.
Though we are talking about the same organization that has fined players hundreds of dollars for rolling down the tops of their socks.
