Why? You'll still be a racist bigot with the inability to form meaningful relationships with people and inanimate objects.
Categorically untrue as I've been married for nearly 20 years. No doubt if you reply it will be to cast aspirsions on my wife. Typical.
Bueller... Bueller... Bueller? Can no one on the state ritual side support their position? Are we just to assume b/c it was a black man who got 'uppity'?
You shouldn't. You should hunt those sorts of cowards down and give them what's coming to them, especially the losers who post online.
Being married doesn't automatically tell us you're good at forming relationships with other human beings. By your own admission you have few friends and many people dislike you. Even your wife knows that your approach is not one that ingratiates you with others.
One can push for greater social justice and still pay respects to the country and the sport that made him rich and famous. Kaepernick's actions are in very poor taste.
Please explain why (in the context of multiple black murders at the hands of police, and little evidence to believe anything is new except an increase of recording devices) not performing group rituals to express solidarity and loyalty to the state is such an UnAmerican action?
Exactly what do you mean by that? Trying to insult my wife but not REALLY insulting her as virtually everyone else on the board calls you on it.
Well, not necessarily. The crowd that loves to obsess over symbolic gestures is fairly even-handed in its mindless jingoism. Witness the shrieking over Tim Kaine's lapel pin.
I'm saying technically you are married. And technically you are married to a human female. But that's as far as it goes. If you want to make it about your "wife" so be it.
I agree they will not do anything but I disagree it is the correct call. For a league which pretends to wrap itself in the flag we just saw their true bottom line and I for one will be voting a big fuck you when these worthless welfare queens come begging for $1 billion in taxpayer money for a new stadium this Nov. Eat my shorts, Alex Spanos! :fuckyou:
I don't know what "UnAmerican" means. Your term, not mine. His grievances are legitimate, but there’s a time and a place to air them. Context matters. Like it or not, the national anthem is an integral part of American athletics, a business that has probably created more black millionaires than any other. He’s not just disrespecting his country; he’s disrespecting his teammates, the fans, and the NFL. Combine that with his own status as a multi-millionaire, and he comes off as a spoiled, whiny child. As a result, it’s unlikely that he’ll win any hearts and minds who didn’t already share his views.
You cited the fact that you are married to prove that you can form meaningful relationships to others. But marriage is a technicality. It doesn't prove you're able to form meaningful relationships with others.
18 years (23 if you count the prior to marriage relationship) with one person doesn't indication the ability to maintain sustained long term relationships? And isn't that meaningful all by itself?
Can I still change the thread title to "The Colin Kaepernick and Dayton marriage thread?" Anyway, the whole problem with BLM and its activists is that cops aren't disproportionately shooting black people, a disproportionate number of black people are thugs who get in shoot outs with cops. Chicago finally released their statistics on police shootings, and half of the cops involved weren't even white. So in contrast to Kaepernick, who lives in a liberal white city, Dwyane Wade's cousin in Chicago was gunned down by two brothers, one of whom had only been out on parole for 14 days (Daily Beast story). Even worse, they were shooting at a cab driver who had looked at them. That's all he did, and they knew it meant they had to kill him. So they accidentally shot Dwyane Wade's cousin as she was checking out a model school for her children. Where's the protest about that? Where are the NFL players who are refusing to play until their black fans in the ghetto straighten up and fly right? Also, Trump took heat because he misspelled Dwyane Wade's name. No. Dwyane's parents misspelled Dwyane's name. To the rest of the world it's spelled Dwayne.
Honey, even though "Separate but Equal" was ruled unconstitutional, institutionalized racism still exists. However, since you likely have white privilege, you don't want to see it, you don't see it, and so far, you don't seem to care to see it. Where's the evidence, you ask? Where is the empirical study that proves that we are not equal now? here is a study as of 2013 using census data to show the most segregated communities.. If you take a look at the maps, you will see that "inner-city" still refers to African-American people. Another statistic to look at is mass incarceration. As of last week, the DOJ has ordered for prisons to become federally-run again because of corporations like the CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) lobbying with legislators to keep mandatory minimum sentencing. Therefore, young black teens who sell weed are more likely to go to prison than young white teens who sell weed. This article goes into more detail about how more African Americans are imprisoned compared to whites or Hispanic people. Also, unarmed black men and boys are more likely to be murdered by police. how would you feel if you couldn't use reasonable force to protect yourself, your family, or your property because a city would take one look at your case and spin your story to make YOU a look like the thug who got in their way? And no, racism against white people doesn't exist. . Racism is Power plus Prejudice. You can be prejudiced against white people; however, white people have hundreds of years of institutions backing them and their advancement so organizations like the NAACP and ACLU are still necessary. Honestly, the facts just make the Footballer idiots just look stupider and stupider because honestly, I don't give two fucks about football but I love when players use their platform to make a statement. Same with Richard Sherman when the Seahawks played the Super Bowl.
This just in: Blacks are the most racist people in America. Nobody bothered to tell them that hating people because of the color of their skin is, in fact, racism.
Racism is power plus prejudice buddy. Like I see that you're probably a Garbage Person and that I can't convince you otherwise to NOT be a Garbage Person, but have you ever cared to Google anything to educate yourself? Or is suburbia particularly rattled by a United Way canvasser today that happens to be brown?
Without falling back to the is/aught fallacy, please explain why this matters. Please explain why it is so important for someone perform the proper social/loyalty rituals without falling back to the is/aught fallacy. And here's the trap. Due to the systemic racism being protested, almost all the black Americans in a position to speak out (and be heard) are in the sports and entertainment industries. But since they are in these industries they shouldn't speak out. Almost as if some don't want to hear what they have to say. But instead just think blacks should shut up and be happy they have been given the opportunity to dance for their supper.
I don't know. I don't know enough about your wife's mental state to answer. But here is what I do know. You've spent a page arguing about how I unfairly accused you of being probably autistic. And this is a thread about race relations in the US. In the same post that I called you unable to form meaningful relationships I also said you were a racist and a bigot. But you haven't denied those charges thereby proving that you're as out of touch as I accused you of and that you really are a bigot and a racist. In sum, case closed.
I like you I do want to warn that gtardo is much like the poster Harley Quinn Hyenaholic who'd say or do anything to get a reaction outta people, and for your own sanity it's best to choose your battles with him accordingly.
