Ear pieces are cheating. I said that when Bush was accused of it (and unlike Zombie's claim the jury is still out) and it was wrong if Hillary used one.
True, but hopefully third parties can use this cycle to build up their party infrastructure and donor lists and maybe even qualify for federal matching funds next time around. It can still help to vote third party even if they aren't going to win. It still expands choice in democracy and that is a worthy goal.
Aleppo and Damascus are the only two cities in Syria I've ever heard of. Long before the Syrian civil war. Both cities have big historical and cultural significance. Aleppo was even mentioned in a famous play: "A sailor’s wife had chestnuts in her lap, And munched, and munched, and munched. “Give me,” quoth I. “Aroint thee, witch!” the rump-fed runnion cries. Her husband’s to Aleppo gone, master o' th' Tiger; But in a sieve I’ll thither sail, And like a rat without a tail, I’ll do, I’ll do, and I’ll do."
That's Bill Clinton insulting the remaining Democrats in Kentucky and West Virginia. Those states will be dark red from now on.
No, it’s a town the nobodies haven’t heard of. Didn’t you style yourself as an “historian” at one point? How much world history don’t you know?
Great, we've reached the part of the thread where Garamet acts like a teacher and demands you recite her some history.
Not knowing the city name would not be a deal breaker to me. I'd bet had you asked Clinton and Trump neither would have known it either. Gary Johnson had an answer for Syria which is more important than a single city. That's why I don't like most of the media because that was a gotcha question. A question where they were hoping he would be caught flat-footed so they could make him look bad.
Then you would know that our first diplomatic consuls to the region were sent to Aleppo in the early 19th century (when it was still part of the Ottoman empire).
I agree that not knowing the city name isn't as bad as not having a stance on the conflict as a whole...but it's the equivalent of asking a candidate "What do you think of the situation in London?" in reference to the Brexit, and the candidate not knowing that London is even a city. He didn't ask "Where is Aleppo?" he asked "What is Aleppo?". Clinton would have known. Despite her character flaws, she's very knowledgeable on such things. Trump? Maybe, maybe not.
Trump would just say, "I'm very strong on the whole Aleppo issue. We're gonna get some of our best people on it, and it's gonna be great. Trust me."
Ted Rall says Clinton is corrupt He's the famous cartoonist who also wrote the biography of Bernie Sanders. You might recognize his work. He's not happy about Clinton. More than half of the people who managed to score a personal one on one meeting with Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State donated money to the Clinton Foundation, either as an individual or through a company where they worked. "Combined, the 85 donors contributed as much as $156 million. At least 40 donated more than $100,000 each, and 20 gave more than $1 million," the Associated Press reported. Does that make Clinton corrupt? Yes. It does. And then he goes after her with a sledgehammer, saying she is completely corrupt and unfit to hold office.
