Yes, indeed. And police shooting civilians should not be a cliche.

Indeed, police defending themselves from murderous criminals should not be a cliche.

Like this cop (who's black), this is more about awful training and frankly, lacking the stones for the job then it is about racist policing, IMO.

BTW the cop who shot the suspect was black himself. And their Chief Of Police is black. So far my theory of "we should only have black cops in cities with a large black population" is not working out for shit. Even if all the suspect shootings were done by black cops it's still a cop shooting a black man - hilarity will ensue no matter what. :(

The only thing we know so far is that the officer who shot him was also black. Would like to see the footage before passing judgement.

There was another shooting somewhere that happened where footage showed a female officer shooting a man who clearly had his hands in the air and was walking away. That bitch needs to be locked up and tried for first degree murder

The cop had a degree in criminal justice. What was that about training again?

Do you mean Tulsa? I believe (google it, I'm going to) the guy had PCP in his car. Not saying a very large man with PCP can be considered a danger, but who knows?

That's about the penal code, constitutional case law and the like. It's for guys who want to move up the ladder. It is not training in fire discipline, training in non lethal force or takedowns.

Book learning ain't teaching you that now, is it?

Since you seem to be impossibly knowledgeable about this shooting, maybe you could give us a timeline of the event and describe, point by point, how the cop's training failed him as well as what he should have done instead?

Or for people who have a genuine interest in law enforcement and want to do the best cop they can be. And if he graduated the training (obviously or he wouldn't be wearing the uniform) he learned all the basics you mentioned. I don't see how that degree would make his judgement worse rather than better in many situations, this being one of them.

The mountain of cases before it that highlight it
Here's the thing; I would rather believe that all of these incidents are down to poor training and fear rather then out and out racism. How about yourself?

They've had vid's for a while, and saying this...
...says that they are getting ahead of a release of it that shows him without a gun in his hand.

    Those cases highlight this case...how?

I'm not talking about "all of these incidents". I'm talking about this particular one.

    No it doesn't.

No doubt. But a degree in criminal justice, does not teach you the physical aspects of Law Enforcement. That's the job of the service academies.

He had a gun, then put it down after a while, still wouldn't cooperate then made a fast movement or something. I can't see how this shooting could be out of racism since both shooter & suspect were black, assuming you are talking about Charlotte. But hey, rioters gonna riot I guess.

Well, it could mean that the shooting wasn't even 24 hours old yet, and the police weren't done with reviewing the videos and interviewing witnesses....

...nah. It couldn't be that. A conspiracy is much more likely.

Usually, when organizations have good news about themselves (justified shooting) they want to get it out there as soon as possible to limit potential damage (riots) from negative speculation (unarmed black man).

Okay, I get that. But there's more to being a cop than just the physical aspects of law enforcement in the service academy. But if that's all there was to being a cop, and nobody learned anything above the basics, our police departments would be less effective across the board. It's like the military - let's say there's some 250 pound 18 year old kid in army basic training who can shoot like he was born with a gun in his hand, and can rag-doll his drill sergeants all day in hand-to-hand combative fighting. Would you want him in charge of your active duty fully functioning army platoon, interacting with a wide variety of soldiers and their varied issues, and working with leaders of other units and civilian workers? Or would you rather have that luitenant (spelling, whatever) with four years of college?

That's not how CMPD has worked in the past. When Randall Kerrick shot an unarmed black man who had been in a car wreck three years ago, it looked very bad for the cop. They didn't release the video that clearly showed Jonathan Ferrell charging the officer until after the trial.

 Most of those rioters & looters don't give a fuck about the shooting victim. If they were demonstrating, that would be different. But attacking cops and looting stores? :mob:
Sorry, they don't want to know all the details, at least until they finish their rioting. The rioters just want some type of trigger/excuse. Then they can drag out their "it's not just about this shooting. We have a long list of oppression building up over the years etc.etc.etc." :dayton: You run amok in the streets wrecking shit you have just lost all credibility with anyone who actually does give a shit.
