The Obama administration has concluded that “Russia’s senior-most officials” ordered hackers to break into the computer networks of American political organizations in order “to interfere with the U.S. election process,” intelligence and security agencies said in a joint statement Friday.

The statement was the administration’s first public attribution of the hacks against the Democratic National Committee and a second political institution to the Russian government. JILL HARTH’S first concern with Donald Trump’s hands wasn’t that they were small. It’s that they were everywhere.

Harth and her longtime boyfriend were in meetings with Trump to forge a business partnership. “He was relentless,” Harth recalled in an interview, describing how on Dec. 12, 1992, he took the couple to dinner and a club — and then situated himself beside Harth and ran his hands up her skirt, to her crotch. “I didn’t know how to handle it. I would go away from him and say I have to go to the restroom. It was the escape route.”

We’ve all heard of Trump’s unethical or loutish behavior, most recently in a 2005 recording unearthed by The Washington Post on Friday in which he boasts of kissing and groping women. The story that Harth and the boyfriend, George Houraney, tell of their interactions with Trump over six years — including business cheating and attempted rape — shows how that predation worked in practice. “He name-dropped continuously,” Harth said under oath in a deposition in a subsequent lawsuit, “when he wasn’t groping me.”

Harth and Houraney were simply an ordinary Florida couple thrilled that Trump wanted to partner with them. And that’s when the nightmare began. (Trump strongly denies these improprieties.) Anyone thinking about voting for Trump would do well to listen to Houraney and Harth.

They were operating a small Florida company called American Dream Enterprise that ran a “calendar girl” beauty contest, an automobile show, a music competition and other events. They had been together for 13 years and were negotiating with Trump to hold the events in his Atlantic City casinos as a way to bring all of them more revenue.

Trump dazzled them with his bold and confident vision of turning their events into huge moneymakers. So, Harth says, she was in a bind familiar to many women: She didn’t want to risk offending a potential partner and benefactor, but neither did she want to be pawed.

The first sign of trouble came the day before the evening groping, in an initial business meeting in which, Harth and Houraney say, Trump spent the time asking about the breasts of the beauty contestants — real or enhanced? — and staring at Harth, then 30. At one point he asked Houraney, “Are you sleeping with her?” Houraney explained awkwardly that they were a couple, but Trump was unfazed.

“You know, there’s going to be a problem,” Trump told Houraney, according to a 1997 sexual harassment lawsuit Harth filed against him. “I’m very attracted to your girlfriend.”

On Jan. 24, 1993, Harth and Houraney went to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida for a contract-signing celebration, bringing along some “calendar girls” at Trump’s request. He offered Harth a tour of the estate and then pulled her into the empty bedroom of his daughter Ivanka.

“I was admiring the decoration, and next thing I know he’s pushing me against a wall and has his hands all over me,” Harth told me. “He was trying to kiss me. I was freaking out.” Harth says she was desperately protesting, and finally managed to run out of the room and find the group again. She and Houraney left rather than stay the night, as they had intended.

In all honesty, that strikes me as odd. Because I feel like I've heard worse things from my high school football team.

I listened to the audio. You could interpret his descriptions as sexual assault, but you could also interpret it that women invite him to grope them because he's a suave billionaire (in his narrative). The element of their consent is ambiguous.

Given that so much of what he says is exaggerated nonsense, I'm disinclined to take his comments seriously, and I fail to see the big deal. His rebuttal about the Clintons' actual abuse of women (as opposed to Trump's fantasies) is also not entirely without merit.

I'll be quite surprised if this is the gaffe that finally takes him down.

Libertarian VP candidate says beating Trump is the most important thing.

The Libertarian vice presidential candidate, William F. Weld, said Tuesday that he plans to focus exclusively on blasting Donald Trump over the next five weeks, a strategic pivot aimed at denying Trump the White House and giving himself a key role in helping to rebuild the GOP.

Weld’s comments in a Globe interview mark a major shift in his mission since he pledged at the Libertarian convention in May that he would remain a Libertarian for life and would do all he could to help elect his running mate, Gary Johnson, the former Republican governor of New Mexico.

But things have changed. Johnson has committed several high-profile gaffes in recent weeks that revealed apparent weak spots in his foreign-policy knowledge. Meanwhile, Trump had seemed to be surging back into contention after he fell well behind in the polls in early August.

While Weld insisted he still supports Johnson, he said he is now interested primarily in blocking Trump from winning the presidency and then potentially working with longtime Republican leaders such as Mitt Romney and Haley Barbour to create a new path for the party after the election.

“Maybe somebody is going to come up with a new playbook, and I don’t know who it’s going to be, but it would be fun to participate,” Weld said in a telephone interview from Atlanta, where he was holding a fund-raiser and rally and planned to watch and tweet about Tuesday night’s vice-presidential debate featuring his major-party rivals, Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Mike Pence.

Weld, a former Republican governor of Massachusetts, said he is focusing on Trump because, while he disagrees with Hillary Clinton on fiscal and military issues, Trump’s agenda is so objectionable it’s “in a class by itself.”

“I think Mr. Trump’s proposals in the foreign policy area, including nuclear proliferation, tariffs, and free trade, would be so hurtful, domestically and in the world, that he has my full attention,” Weld said.

He insisted he was not abandoning Johnson, although he signaled that bolting from the Libertarian Party might be a possibility in the future.

“I’m certainly not going to drop them this year,” Weld said.

Weld’s comments seemed sure to reignite suspicions among Libertarians who have questioned his loyalty to the party and have accused him of using the ticket for his own political aims. But Weld’s decision to chart his own course appears to reflect the feeling among his aides, who have privately expressed dismay at Johnson’s flubs on national television, such as when Johnson could not come up with the name of a favorite foreign leader and when he said “What is Aleppo?” when asked about the besieged Syrian city.

Those missteps — in sharp contrast to Weld’s smoother command of foreign affairs — have created some tensions on the ticket. Adding to the conflict are the accolades Weld has recieved from national political commentators who have dubbed him the more substantial and serious candidate, while ridiculing Johnson as a lightweight.

“Unfortunately, if the ticket was flipped, they might have more success,” said Bob Durand, a Weld ally and former Democratic state senator who donated $1,000 to the Libertarian ticket.

At one point, Weld strategists researched Libertarian Party rules to see if it were possible for him to take over the top of the ticket. The rules state the vice presidential nominee automatically assumes the presidential spot if there is a vacancy. But Johnson, peeved at the suggestion, flatly rejected the idea.

Weld insisted he and Johnson remain “happy warriors” and said Johnson is fully supportive of his anti-Trump campaign.

“I have had in mind all along trying to get the Donald into third place, and with some tugging and hauling, we might get there,” Weld said.

Weld has been much more critical of Trump than of Clinton, whom he has known since the 1970s, when they were young lawyers working for the House committee that investigated President Richard Nixon.

Just last week, for example, Weld irked Johnson supporters when he said on MSNBC that he’s “not sure anybody is more qualified than Hillary Clinton to be president of the United States.”

Weld, meanwhile, has denounced Trump as a “huckster” with a “screw loose” and has said his plan to deport 11 million illegal immigrants “would remind me of Anne Frank hiding in the attic.”

Weld’s new plan calls for him to focus his fire on Trump in a handful of red states — as well as in at least one swing state, New Hampshire — where the Libertarians are running strong. Nationally, the ticket is drawing about 7 percent support.

Polls show that Johnson and Weld — who were initially thought to appeal mostly to anti-Trump Republicans — may be doing more damage to Clinton by siphoning away young voters.

“That’s obviously a concern,” said Mark Robinson, Weld’s friend, former chief of staff, and colleague at the Boston law firm Mintz Levin. “He certainly doesn’t want to be in that position where Trump could win and people would be blaming him.”

Robinson said it would make sense for Weld to step up his criticism of Trump, particularly after Weld failed to clear the 15 percent polling margin needed to qualify for the debates.

“He’s got to push his message out with more urgency and even more bellicosity than he has before,” Robinson said. “There’s no shortage of material to attack Donald Trump.”

As of 5:59 a.m. Monday, the Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City will close – another pockmark on the struggling city's gaming industry that puts nearly 3,000 workers out of a job and shines a light on one of the final remnants of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's handprint on the city.

Despite the impending shutdown, visitors continued to bypass the dozens of red-shirt wearing, striking workers and saddle up to slot machines and table games.

Owner Carl Icahn said he has lost at least $100 million in his efforts to keep the boardwalk casino and hotel open. He decided to close the Taj in August, a month after members of UNITE HERE Local 54 went on strike following failed contract negotiations.

The roughly 1,000 union workers continued therir around-the-clock demonstrations despite Icahn's decision, and even presented the billionaire activist investor with an updated contract proposal. In a five-page letter, the president and CEO of Tropicana Entertainment – which manages the Taj on behalf of Icahn Enterprises – dismissed the proposal and repeated accusations that the union leader was to blame for the closure.

As the striking workers continue to demonstrate along Atlantic City's boardwalk and streets, Icahn continues to make his presence known in the Shore resort. He confirmed an agreement was reached with Bart Blatstein, the Philadelphia developer who owns the Showboat, to allow the former casino to operate as a non-casino hotel.

The Monday closure is also turning attention back to Trump, who has touted his departure from Atlantic City as a sign of his forethought as opposed to a contribution to the Shore resort's financial freefall, which included several bankruptcy filings by the Republican candidate's business entities.

Well, yes; that would be as a teenager. Still not all that common, really, but it happens. As an adult, not so much so.

60 year old men bragging about committing sexual assault, whether or not they actually committed the assault, are very uncommon and seriously fucked up people. Trump is, at the very best, a dumb teenager stuck in a 70 year-old man's body, with a lot of money and ridiculously poor impulse control even for a dumb teenager.

Yes. I think the operative word here is not so much teenager but virgin. In puberty, kids will try out all kinds of roles and say all kinds of silly stuff, trying to figure out what it means, precisely because they don't understand it yet. In a Friday night interview with WABC Radio Host Rita Cosby, the reality TV show star enthusiastically defended Trump, adding "he's a sinner, that's a start" and calling for people "not condemn anybody."

He also took the tack other Trump's defenders had adopted: Diverting attacks to Democrats — and Bill and Hillary Clinton in particular.

"That's about the most ungodly bunch I've ever seen," Robertson said of Trump's opponents.

Faith and Freedom Coalition President Ralph Reed and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins also continued to back the presidential candidate, BuzzFeed News reported.

"Voters of faith are voting on issues like who will protect unborn life, defend religious freedom, create jobs, and oppose the Iran nuclear deal," Reed told the media outlet in an email. "Ten-year-old tapes of private conversation with a television talk show host rank very low on their hierarchy of concerns."

Conservative commentator Pastor Mark Burns turned to scripture and urged forgiveness, saying in part that Trump had "repented and God has forgiven him...so should you."

Men talk like that all the time! It's how we bond.

I'm not a secular humanist, so I don't share the politically-correct, Victorian attitudes on sex/gender. If a guy wants to cuck, that's cool with me. That's your choice. However, I think the lifestyle isn't healthy. I see it as a group of men who talk about abstaining from improper thoughts, strive to censor their speech, pay artificial respect to women (indiscriminately!), and develop feelings of contempt for masculinity. My theory is that cucks rewire their brains in a way that sabotages their own capacity for sexual intimacy. That's why so many men have developed porn addiction.

In my opinion rape, abuse, and sexual assault is CATEGORICALLY worse than locker room talk into a hot mic.
