Amen. There are a shocking number of people on the left who willfully refuse to acknowledge that reality. They actually harm themselves and their cause by insisting on playing the fool the way 14D is currently doing.

I only agree with the apathy reason. Considering both candidates were white I don't get the racism angle at all. And I personally don't know any fellow "deplorables" who have a problem with a female in charge. Or maybe you are being sarcastic.

Trump openly courted racists and bigots. He was endorsed by the KKK. If you still can't see it, it's because you're working incredibly hard not to.

Considering how Democrats failed up show up for Clinton the way they did for Obama, I'd say apathy definitely played a huge role. That, and discontent from the Sanders crowd, similarly directed at Clintonesque elitism.

Republican turnout was average at best. This election was the Dem's to lose. They fracked up.

The three newest comments on the above:

Sorry, it's too late for you and the rest of your ilk. You openly trashed, repudiated, and humiliated myself and many other 'educated' Trump voters, wore your contempt for us on your sleeve, while refusing to to critique Secretary Clinton with the same gusto you delighted in doing with now President- Elect Trump. Shame on you, Apology not accepted.

Prepare to face the consequences. All of the 50+ million deplorables including myself have a mental list of journalists, anchors, and networks that showed their true colors in this election...and we won't forget.

The responsibility of the "press" is to report facts which have been properly verified. There is room for opinion in "editorials." Sadly, the "press" is largely irrelevant as a result of their misguided all-knowing elitism and their arrogance in attempting to force feed the public.

I am the daughter of a journalist who at great personal danger opted to print facts in the face of Communist orders to "color" the stories in "Red." I have first hand stories of The coercion and consequences of his defiance to publish truth. That is also why I can write remarks freely today.

Please, don't for a single smug moment believe that you can fool all of the people all of the time. You have just observed that you cannot. Your so called, reporting of news is laughable and forutunatley, more than half of the US population fails to believe you.

With ample international information available online, I manage to get to the bottom of facts and issues by reading multiple international publications and sites linking together consistently of reasonable facts from which to draw a conclusion. I completely disregard US networks and news channels as false and pure propaganda. I've read Animal Farm and 1984 and lived under Communism and listened endlessly to its stories from my family to know propaganda and lies when I hear/see/smell them.

Please look in the mirror and see who looks back at you. You should see an empty space in the place of one who sold out for false and corrupt ideology. You are not influence paddlers, you are not style makers, and you will not tell us right from wrong. We know right from wrong and we recognize a fraud when we see one.

Repeating lies, name calling, and disparaging your fellow countrymen/women is deplorable. Why? What have you to gain? Tomorrow, your names, if they were even known, will be forgotten. You have helped make this a disposable society. You too will be disposed of. With smart phones, your services of reporting or perverting are no longer needed. We can get the facts right. Why can't you?

The journalistic integrity once enjoyed is no longer and you have yourselves to thank. We will flourish without your opinions or approval.

Instead of reporting, you obstructed, presumed and assumed. We all know what happens when one assumes. You did it in spades. "How did we get it wrong?" you ask - it wasn't yours to get right. It OURS to get right. Now, go back and learn what a reporter is supposed to do and practice being honest and humble.

Why do you think there were so many "undercover" Trump voters? Every time I heard a pollster say "oh, there's no evidence of this so-called undercover voter," I laughed to myself. Because I knew that I, and many other college-educated suburban moms, felt the same way. We were shamed into silence, because we didn't want to be labeled as hateful and ignorant. (Oh, and don't forget racist, xenophobic, homophobic....am I remembering all the phobics?)

The media said we were only supposed to focus on two things: 1)Hillary is a woman, and therefore deserves the presidency and 2)if you vote for Trump, you must have a 7th-grade education and own one pair of shoes.

It was pounded into our brains. Every stupid comment Trump ever made was dissected, analyzed, and played over and over and over and over again. We were also told to entirely ignore two things: 1) any previous wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton, and 2) any policy ideas Trump had that sounded reasonable.

I hope the media knows that we hold them directly responsible for the violence in our streets tonight. Had you not deliberately excoriated Trump 9 out of 10 times, people might have heard something positive about his ideas for the country. But all they remember is "racist, sexist," blah, blah, blah. No wonder they're upset; that's all you ever told them about Trump, and now we all know why - thanks to Wikileaks.

I took a couple of journalism classes in college. My professor made sure if we learned nothing else, we learned this: unless you're a commentator, it's your job to say who, what, when, why and where. It's never your job to editorialize when you're a hard-news journalist. Do they teach that anymore?

The press decided that we weren't smart enough to choose our own president, so they'd do it for us. And millions of us saw right through it. Guess we weren't that stupid after all.

Just making a statement of fact. Keep pretending you don't understand the concept, though.
The ones that bothered to vote apparently are. Even if they had other primary reasons for voting for Trump, they knew the misogyny and racism were part of the package they were signing up for. Now they get to own it.

The people voting for Hillary knew they were supporting both brutally violent child rape and violent rape of adult employees, along the with sexual assault of other vulnerable women, plus the looting of Third World countries for personal profit.

Bollocks. There's a kickback going on certainly, but it's not some latter day -isms that's crawled through society like leprosy, it's because the upper levels and the left took things too far and without thought of consequence.

Take political correctness. You know, no one sane can really disagree with the concept of "let's not be cunts to one another because of race, gender, sexuality." Sure, you can argue some finer points, but the foundation is sound to anyone not channelling the spirit of Hitler.

But it kept being added to, way past the point of sanity. Currently we cannot advertise for a "junior developer" as it comes across as ageist. Which is fucking mental, words can have multiple meanings and junior/senior do. Same with the phrase "you people." Targeted at straight, white people, no problem. Any minority? You're in trouble. Suddenly managing people who aren't a bunch of straight, white people becomes a bit of a minefield and you've got to choose your words very carefully.

Same with the SJW brigade. Social justice? Sign me up for equal rights for everyone, big believer, I'll go on a march and waggle a placard.

The actual SJW types? Cunts, the lot of them. Watched one flicker between disgust and self-conflicted confusion as the fact I'd dated someone transgender, which was all kinds of amusing. Just like most of the middle class white pillocks, they're perfectly happy defending groups just so long as they don't have to interact with them.

And as an actual fan of globalisation and migration, the problem is that governments have been happy to rake in the tax receipts without using any of the largesse to combat the inequality we import as the cost of reducing global poverty.

Trump tapped into all that rage, and we've had years to deal with the consequences of globalisation, we just haven't, and any debate on it, or if PC has gone too far, has been met with accusations and lecturing rather than any actual intelligent debate.

So yes, we get to reap what a bunch of fuckwits have sown for far too long.

voter turnout was very high (80 percent) in my red county and 70 percent or so in the blue county containing Augusta. I always wish for 100 percent but this is still pretty encouraging.

In journalism (especially broadcast journalism) the beginning of a story or newscast is spelled "lede" in order to differentiate it from "lead", which could be mispronounced by a news reader.

A lede paragraph could be about anything.

A lead (led) paragraph would only be about Pb. :bergman:

Kids are impressionable. I remember some relative had one of the Pax Channel doomsday programs on telling people to repent before before the rapture in six months and it scared me shitless. We had a pregnant dog at the time whose puppies I thought I wouldn't live to see, which is how I think I ended up telling my mom about it. At least that was one old kook, one time, and he wasn't on the news nearly 24/7 scaring the rest of my third grade class.

A friend of mine has a six year old daughter who asked if she'd be deported for being 1/4th Mexican. My high school friends told me of some white bitch in my hometown talking about how she was excited to have the military throw all the Mexicans outta the US....in front of their Marine cousin. On Veteran's Day, no less. :brood:

I'm thirty and I've been incredibly lucky to not have a store of blatant racism stories of my own to share. But I'm pissed about this kind of shit. Pissed that until about six months ago, I never got nervous when I saw a cop on the 805 when I'm commuting home. Pissed that my nephew who was born three weeks after Obama was sworn in will see a Klan-endorsed candidate replace the only President he's ever known. Pissed that nothing any of our minority groups is never enough, not that I give one rat's ass about the opinion of white people as a whole anymore.
