I can't post this on Facebook. I have a friend....no, more just a guy I know. A retired NYPD cop who then went on to work for US Customs and Border Patrol in NYC. He's been around the world fighting terrorism and is now a supervisor. We asked him about Trumps plans and it doesn't look too good to start. But apparently it doesn't really bother him and his associates. They seem to have fun fucking with visa holder and refugees. I heard various stories about how they fuck new entrants over. But the most interesting thing I heard was that if refugees and other visa holders are on the plane, they have already been vetted. And that the checks they do in America is first off, to confirm that the person with the papers is that person in case anyone switched papers on the plane. From there they should be able to enter. But these customs guys like to give them a hard time. If you don't pass inspection, you have to go back. Or worse, you are incarcerated for god know how long, in the US. They hold people for further scrutiny and this can be for hours or even days. He says that Trump is going kinda backward on this. We work with overseas agencies and embassies to bring people over but then he wants to stop them at US border. So why are people being approved to come over and went they get here its problems? If Trump doesn't want certain refugees, he needs to stop them before they get on the plane. My friend also says that stopping them here is more work and costs for incarceration. But Trump wants a hiring freeze to begin and they need more agents for this plan. He also says that Trump doesn't understand how folks get permission to come here. America has approved their entry and Trump is saying FUCK YOU. Pretty much all by himself. Trump, in not so many words, has told border patrol to slam Muslims when they land. And the Border Patrol just says OK, Boss. And they have fun with it!. And from what I heard last night, the Border Patrol, is a bunch of fucked up people.
Well that's pretty messed up. Why go out of your way to mess with people? If somebody above you (the gurus that decide who gets to come here on the plane) says they are allowed to come, then do your job but don't be a dick about it. That said if indeed they don't have their papers in order, and it is their job to detain them, then they have to do it. Being in the government almost all of my working life, here is (I almost guarantee it) a big part of the problem: the left hand not talking to the right hand. So basically a lack of communication between the admin (guys who set up who can come in and by what criteria/standards) and the boots on the ground (border agents). I don't care what they told you at "X" this is "Y" and they told you wrong! It could be much of this going on.
I said the same thing. Check this out. Story about some Africans getting fucked over. 50 African refugees land at JFK. They are dressed lightly. Sandals and other typical African garb. They know little english. The Customs guys screw around with some of them. Saying things like 'where's ya coat? or You're gonna need some Jordans, now that you're in America! Now some agency has set this all up but my friend is checking into it cuz something is not right. He finds out that their final destination is Anchorage, Alaska. Fucking ALASKA!! These guys don't know shit. They just know AMERICA. Seems it might have been a scam to get workers in over there. So now these guys go into holding so that Customs can understand why the fuck they ares sending Africans to fucking Alaska!!! BTW, Alaska is not a refugee destination unless by special request to be with family there.
And many of the planes that bring people over are all set to take people back that are not approved. That's cool if they are done with with you before the planes is ready to depart. Can't make that plane? You are incarcerated. Half of a family could be left behind. A mother could be sent back. and so on.
Sounds like shady dealings. Perhaps not illegal, but unscrupulous. Hey, construction contracting companies here in Georgia (ran by native born mexicans) get busted for hiring illegal mexicans now and then. They forge birth certificates, social security cards, etc.etc. Maybe something similar is going on in Alaska with the Africans.
On the upside Trump's order yesterday said visas shall not be issued for citizens from certain states. That means the problem mentioned in the OP is now solved at least for a few months for those seven terrorism factories.
And as to that wall...well there are many areas of the border that are known as 'soft borders'. People go back and forth. Work, school, church, visit family, etc. There is no mad rush of border jumpers. From what my friend says border crossers take more direct routes from close towns and cities. We heavily patrol known trouble spots but soft borders don't seem to cause any major problems. Trump seems to think that every part of that border is the same and should be walled off.
My friend says that this will also stop many folks that come here for legit business. People that go back and forth over a number of years. What you say is true but those that have current visas are being fucked when they land. They are being revoked after issue and travel to US.
Yep, hence the Google and Microsoft worries about legal workers on H1B1 visas (highly skilled specialists) who are currently overseas and now may be blocked from returning. Two Iraqi citizens who travelled to the US on valid visas issued prior to the ban were blocked from entry and are suing the Trump administration.
Some probably are, others not. The problem is that Donald -- or Cheney, say -- hand the shitheads among them a whole shitload of personal power. Theirs to abuse as they wish. So you have cases like the one of the Canadian citizen travelling, on a Canadian passport, from Tunisa to Canada and merely changing planes at JFK. He ended up being tortured for almost a year in a Syrian prison. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maher_Arar It isn't cool for the airline, which has to bear the cost of someone being refused entry. That's how it works, and that's why the airline makes damn sure you are who you say you are and that you're entitled to enter the destination country before they let you board. I cross the Atlantic westwards and back fairly regularly and I can quote chapter and verse.
Funny thing about that. If you'll notice that Saudi Arabia is one of the countries not on his list. You know, the country where most of the 9/11 hijackers came from.
I'm no border jumper/swimmer but if I knew the US was beefing up an area with a huge wall I'd cross somewhere else. I don't care how fast you build people can do recon, probe perimeters, then start crossing in another spot ten times faster than anyone can build a wall. You can't hide a wall, but you can hide people. And fuck a wall anyway - drug cartels just tunnel underneath them. If we can't install, maintain and monitor motion detectors along every linear foot of that border, the wall won't work. All the wall will do (if a huge wall extends the entire length of the border) is drive up the cost of getting smuggled across, making the bad guys richer - and drive up the cost of human suffering because many border jumpers are jumping on "credit" and are held hostage until their families on the US side pay up. Women are pimped out sometimes for years. I'm not saying a wall won't work up to a point, but it won't be worth the cost by a long shot. It's just more "security theater" IMO.
To be fair to Trump, I doubt it's JUST that he has business ties in those countries - a lot of the GOP do as well, plus their lobbyists. And the Dems wouldn't have risked pissing off the Saudis either.
Like I said in the other thread there are some very conspicuous exceptions like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
They were trying to keep people in while we are trying to keep criminals out. In and of itself it is not a silver bullet but no one ever claimed it was. It will reduce illegal crossings which are a major problem but they will also need to crack down on employers, people who rent them housing knowing they are illegal alien criminals, sanctuary cities who willingly harbor and protect criminals from law enforcement, and other such measures. If Trump can get Congress to go along with the, and it is a big if, then we might finally see law and order begin to be restored. That would be a huge vote getter.
Yeah, about that. That America is under a massive wave of crime is a myth. Not that I expect facts to have any impact on your idiocy.
Illegal alien criminals? Being an illegal alien is not a crime. Its is a status punishable by deportation. You are not arrested. You are detained. Herein lies some of the problem.
You seem to be missing the part where there simply being here is a crime. Also all the illegals who do commit violent crimes simply do not belong here. At all. Period. Removing them will lower crime further and that is a very good thing. As a bonus wages will go up for actual Americans once the labor market is no longer flooded with cheap illegal labor. I am OK with that.
Yeah Trump's "American Carnage" shill is fairly obvious to anyone who actually pays attention and doesn't come with a load of preconceptions. His statements about the murder rate in Chicago are a case in point - while an increase in gun crime and murder is not great, Chicago is hardly a fucking ghetto, yet his supporters THINK it is because of their own notions of black communities.
Unless caught in the act of crossing a border there is no proof of a crime. It can be assumed but thats it. BEING an illegal alien is not a crime. Prove me wrong.
I am well aware that cowardly politicians turned illegal entry into a misdemeanor in the 90's but that is still a crime and I give even odds that it gets turned back into a felony soon. That is a good thing. Illegal means illegal and they need to go. The anchor babies can go with them and return when they are of legal age. No more popping out a kid to avoid deportation.
These terrible illegal aliens. But where are they? You would think there would be roving bands of them all over the country. Doing crime willy nilly. But no...most get jobs and find a place to live. They send their kids to school. They go to church. They become part of our society. They get here and find a way to live and make a living. On the other hand, the refugees have it made. They are hooked up with everything. I could get the impression that illegals cost the US less.
But like I said BEING an illegal alien is not a crime. Nice job skipping around that one. Duck and a Dodge. Next time Belittle me and you get a
They also shot people when they crossed/fled - all we do is apprehend those fleeing into the US unless we are shot at first.
that's why I said we don't need a physical wall, we need a legal wall. Caught hiring an illegal, or harboring an illegal, you go to fucking prison, no exceptions.
Check back in a few months when the law is restored. Also, yes, being an illegal is still a crime. It was downgraded from a felony to a misdemeanor by Democrats and Republicans seem to want to restore it to bring a felony. Which it should be. Also read the executive order on sanctuary cities because it does define simply being illegal as being a deportable offense and requires cooperation from local law enforcement on pain of losing federal funds. Expect Republicans in Congress to push through a lot of additional string tying on that one.
Excuse me sir...we're gonna have to see your grandparents papers. And the funny looking kid over there, too.
