And all those 95% just looked at the wall and said "well fuck" and went home and never gave another thought to coming to the U.S.
well no, to be fair, it's more complex than that. We bombed Iraq and and went to war there for...reasons. Having done so, millions of Iraqi refugees flowed into neighboring countries, mainly Syria, overloading their systems and creating a situation ripe for rebellion. Then when rebellion occurred, we supported the rebels because, like Saddam, Assad is a bad bad man. THEN A certain individual who's vested interest is in gaining a foothold in the middle east and sowing discord in Western Democracies saw an opportunity to accomplish both. He rolls into Syria and strengthens the hand of Assad, resulting in millions of refugees, some of which flow into those Western rivals and then he supports "populist" xenophobic leaders in those countries. Then sit back and watch the infighting and chaos ensue. The ONE guy who comes out of the Syrian civil war getting everything he wanted was Putin. No coincidence he signed a 50 year pact with Assad on the very day his other puppet was getting sworn in.
an excellent way to do that is to develop energy resources that are either not fossil fuels or are easily supplied by North American reserves. But that's not what Big Oil lobbyists tell our politicians to do.
Nailed it. On every point. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/5888fe22e4b0628ad613ddb2?timestamp=1485553271822
I don't know what a "prat" is......is that libspeak for "god-like unbelievably awesome hunk of lean, mean, fighting machine?" Guilty as charged!
You must hang around the wrong conservatives then. Many conservatives admire his fighting spirit more than his judgement!
Meat packing industry. They have flown over Africans to work in the meatpacking industry in the midwest.
Its pretty late here, but twitter is awash with claims that people with a dual nationality of the countries on the banned list wont be able to get into the states. That includes those noted terrorists such as UK members of parliament and Sir Mo Farah who actually has a home in America but is currently off doing altitude training in Ethiopia. I'll be interested to see if this dual nationality ban is accurate or just twitter hysterics. This is really quite a nasty chapter in US history.
It's real, but there's no way it's legal. https://reason.com/blog/2017/01/28/trump-abruptly-bans-all-refugees-plus-ev
Dinner has been spending time with an old friend who is visiting from Panama. Please note she came here legally unlike the criminals you wringing your hands about. ,
not uncommon - Trump declares something by fiat and then when it comes to implementation people are like "how the fuck is this even going to work?" Expect it to happen regularly.
I'm kind of wondering how this might affect one of my relatives. She's one of the last in her particular category of resident alien, since about 1970. I forget the proper title, but know she has to renew it every so often. She's spent her entire adult life in the USA being an average American. Married an American for 30 years. Born in the USA siblings, offspring, and just turned 65. There's details, obviously.... but bottom line is it seems she's facing uncertainty now...
Doesn't matter. Uk knight of the realm and 4 time Olympic Champion Mo Farrah has a home in the US. He's off traing in Ethiopia at the moment and can't return to his family in America as he might be a threat to @Dinners security.
chicken flavoured mushroom protein? (yay! google) no, that man is a threat to all that is good and holy.
I've tried it, just in case the futurists are right and we end up reliant on it. The chicken one actually tastes OK, though not a patch on the real thing, as do the sausages. But the "beef mince"? It's the Devil's work. I tried making chilli with it and ended up throwing it out - you just can't get the taste or texture anywhere near the real thing.
I live in an area with a lot of Chinese restaurants. Squirrel and chicken truly are indistinguishable once battered
And Mo Farrah speaks this morning.... "On 1st January this year, Her Majesty The Queen made me a Knight of the Realm. On 27th January, President Donald Trump seems to have made me an alien. I am a British citizen who has lived in America for the past six years - working hard, contributing to society, paying my taxes and bringing up our four children in the place they now call home. Now, me and many others like me are being told that we may not be welcome. It’s deeply troubling that I will have to tell my children that Daddy might not be able to come home - to explain why the President has introduced a policy that comes from a place of ignorance and prejudice. I was welcomed into Britain from Somalia at eight years old and given the chance to succeed and realise my dreams. I have been proud to represent my country, win medals for the British people and receive the greatest honour of a knighthood. My story is an example of what can happen when you follow polices of compassion and understanding, not hate and isolation." And for every famous person of means like Farrah who can go live anywhere, there will be hunderds of other law abiding people caught in the same situation. Sad sad times.
