When the U.S. shows its best face, when we work to abide by the Constitution, when we open our borders (within reason) and let people in, they end up loving the country. For all of our faults, the U.S. is a land of opportunity where people still dream big. For someone who has lived in a poor nation most of their life, coming to the U.S. must be a mind blowing experience. There is choice everywhere. Just about anything that you could want can be had here. You may not go from rags to riches, but you can go from a hovel in a desert where the water is unsafe to drink and bullets are flying over your head every single day, to a nice little home in the suburbs, where you can raise a family in relative peace. That can happen here, so it's no wonder refugees, and immigrants in general, see the U.S. as a safe haven, and it's a mindset we should continue to foster, as long as we actually work towards making it a reality for everyone.

Either we put our money where our mouth is, or we shut the fuck up and hand off the title to another nation who follows good words with positive action. So far the U.S. is losing, in that regard.

I have gone over this many times here on WF. Until you can reliably figure out how to tell the "bad muslims" from the supposed "good muslims" you do not let any in. At all.

No one has a right to immigrate, we decide who we want and who we do not want, and we have decided we don't want to take any chances on that filth. You can enjoy the welfare mooching rapefugees but we will take a pass, thank you.

On the upside Trump still authorized 50,000 refugees per year, just not from known terrorism hotspots on the list, so we are fulfilling a needed role resettling refugees. That is the same amount per year as Obama had during his first term so stop your chicken Little routine.

I worked personally with several of them and they already have their own special expedited visa program. The US has been out of major combat operations in Iraq for at least half a decade so the vast majority already got in years and years ago.

The main one I worked with got in the US back in 2005 so you are about a dozen years too late to be using this excuse.

More than anyone else the Saudis (and their smaller Gulf brethren: Qatar & Co) have been very busy indeed stirring the pot of Islamowackjobism by financing Wahhabis all over the Muslim world and beyond. Between 1995 and 911, when the Taliban were running Afghanistan, they were to a certain point being bankrolled by the Saudis. In fact, 911 was a major pink ear for the Bush family, which has Many Good Friends in Saudi Arabia.
Wherever Hardass Puritans have been ready to roll, the Saudis have been ready to finance them.

This naturally includes ISIS, which has many a link to the Gulf, especially Qatar from what I've heard.

Not far from where I live is an absolutely gorgeous mosque. Sometimes I stop by just to admire the beautiful carpets and whatnot. Then I remember the place was built with Saudi money and it sorta stinks. Bit like the Vatican actually.

Except that no one was banned for religion.

As evidenced by all the other Islamic countries that are not on the list.

And we have the right to close those borders within reason.

A 90 day ban while a vetting system is setup is not unreasonable.

That's what you and others are crying over. Ninety days. You sure as fuck didn't care when Obama did it for the exact same reason Trump is doing it so why the fake crying now?

Oh that's right. Trump has a R by his name.

    And why not?

Maybe you haven't noticed but there is a genocide going on right now in the Middle East. Christians are being slaughtered or chased out or forced to convert. Christianity is on the verge of extinction in the Middle East.

Yet during right years of Obama the plight of Christians was ignored by Obama and the left.

When did Obama make a rule that targeted non-terrorist Muslims and favoured terrorist Muslims as well as other religions?

What on Earth are you talking about? Trump isn't doing, nor has he proposed doing, anything for Christians from the ME that Obama wasn't doing. He has only stopped doing the same for other victims of genocide.

Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 signed into law by Obama.

All the countries in Trump's executive order?

All chosen by the Obama administration's DHS people. Before Trump became President. In fact Libya, Somali and Yemen were added in Feburary of 2016. Didn't see any tears from you and others at that time.

So again..... why no crying when Obama's people singled out those countries but crying now that Trump is following Obama's lead?

Obama restricted visa waivers for those Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen. Trump is looking to now bar immigration and visitors from the same list of countries. He's following Obama's lead. Obama's DHS in fact. Obama's DHS which choose those seven countries as countries with problems that need special handling.

Trump places a temporary ban and fuckers like you are crying like bitches.

No, that isn't true on several levels. One, suspending a Visa Waiver Program isn't anything close to banning all entry to the country with proper visas. Second, the VWP isn't there to accommodate refugees in the first place. Third and most importantly, in no part of the TTPA is preferential treatment given to countries that fund terrorism over countries that don't.

Bad analogy pal. The Japanese are honorable people who accepted their defeat. There were no rogues out to commit terrorist acts.

Exactly and what if the Muslim who wishes to blow up infidels says, "I'm a christian"? Does that get to come here? How do you prove he's not?

The same "honorable people" whose wartime conduct was basically a string of brutal atrocities from beginning to end?

The same "honorable people" who did not "accept their defeat" until virtually every city in their country was burnt to the ground and they were literally on the verge of starvation due to a naval blockade?

There are several. In some places Shiites are being targeted. C'mon, Z, don't tell me you're partial????

Also, it ain't across the Middle East. Christians in places like Jordan are doing OK, for example.

Also, what set all this shit in motion? That's right ---- Dubbya's boneheaded invasion of Iraq, which I'd bet good money you firmly supported.
Iraq until then had a thriving Christian community, which is today near-decimated.

So get a life. (Oh, I forgot --- you're dead.)

Unusual circumstances but given that I'll accept your point as valid.

Still in 1956, Americans had many reasons to still hate the Japanese. My mother never forgot (even up through the 1980s) staying at a neighbors home when she was a teenager and the family finding out their son had been killed in the Pacific by the Japanese.

 One of my paternal uncles was an aide to General Douglas MacArthur, who served with him from WWII to Korea, he never once gave my mom shit for working for a Honda dealership. And yes, he did see firsthand what the Japanese did in WWII. I knew a WWII vet who fought in Europe and he was proud of the fact that the US didn't round up Muslims and put them in internment camps after 9/11.

In short, the plural of anecdote is not "data."
