I think it's fascinating to watch a hyper-partisan, such as yourself, deal with things outside the traditional partisanship cycle. You act like this is politics as usual, when it isn't. Still, go on, please, and continue thinking in terms of left and right. I'm sure you'll have at least oldfella to nod his head like an epileptic wiener dog.

For example Trump allows 50,000 refugees per year which is the same number Obama had for his first term. Yet with Trump they declare he is banning all refugees while Obama, with the same number, was the black Jesus who could do no wrong.

There will be 50,000 especially since half that number has already been approved. They just won't mainly be from high terrorism risk countries (the exception being persecuted religious minorities especially Christians).

For the fifth time: The countries that mainly finance and train terrorism aren't on Trump's list. So yes, the immigration that still happens will very much be from high risk countries. It's Muslims from countries that have little to no role in terrorism that Trump doesn't want.

I understand you are ESL but it has been repeatedly pointed out that the Obama administration wrote the list, Trump just asked the state department if they had a list, and then implemented. Also as I have repeatedly said I would love to see Saudi and Pakistan on tge list, all of the animal nations really, but this is a big step in the right direction so I will take it and then advocate for more.

You're right, it doesn't apply to citizens, but it does apply to legal residents, so her mother would be affected if she happened to be in any of those countries and wanted to travel back to the US. or if she were in Russia and a similar ban happened. A legal permanent resident should enjoy the same rights as a citizen and as @Faceman points out it also violates due process and probably several other constitutional protections.

Carter did such a ban on Iranians including for current visa holders. He had a freeze until additional screening could be worked out then the new policy was put into effect after the freeze period. Which is exactly what Trump has done.

Don't expect the chicken littles to know that though because for them history began with the election of the black Jesus.

I remember that. At my sisters college (and later mine) there were a whole bunch of Iranian students that had to pack up and shove off suddenly

I was indeed alive for the entire Carter administration though quite young. I agree he took the correct moves visa vi his ban on entry to all Iranians. It is an example of why such a move by a President is neither illegal nor unconstitutional. It already passed through the courts and was found constitutional.

Yep. After the freeze period new regulations and screening were put into effect and then the process resumed. Which is exactly what Trump has said he is doing.

When Carter took that action there was no protest whatsoever.

I think it's funny that the Right is finally acknowledging the fact that Obama deported more illegals than any other president ever.

When ever I brought up that fact while Obama was president it was suggested by people on the right that I was being "disingenuous".

So what, idiot? The action was found constitional and it doesn't matter if uninformed cry babies moan about it or not.

Look it up if you don't believe me and maybe you will learn something.

I could be wrong but in this computerized, information age, the ability to find illegals is vastly increased. So it wasn't exactly Obama but the ability. Expect even more, going forward.

Ah, I was afraid you were getting rusty, but this is a full scale @Dinner post: 6 claims, 6 of them false; plus the implication that this would somehow satisfy your point if any of it were true, which makes 7.

Maybe...but they had computers before 2009.

The point is, all I ever heard the right say about Obama vis a vis "illegals", is that his boarder was a sieve (even though he hired more boarder patrol agents than any other prez as well), and that he was going too easy on the ones that got in anyway...all that while Hispanics were calling him "Deporter In Chief".

When ever I brought the truth of the matter up, they didn't want to hear it. Now they're bringing it up themselves in order to call Democrats hypocrites.

    Of course not.

In 1979, most Americans knew that seizing an embassy was an act of war.

Point in fact, Trump is not much of a Republican. He's only been a member of the party for a few years. He doesn't like free trade and free markets. He's soft on Russia. He's openly racist. These among other things are all a break with the established orthodoxy.
