Apparently Glenn Beck, her boss, does not approve of the 24-year-old conservative firebrand's calling people hypocrites for being anti-abortion. http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2017/03/20/report-tomi-lahren-suspended-at-theblaze.html She is annoying as fuck, but she got this one right.
But as you have pointed out yourself, the actual religious right doesn't like Trump. That doesn't mean their stance on things like abortion have changed, though.
If nothing else, it demonstrates that intellectual honesty isn't allowed in media. It's all about building a brand and selling a product to your target audience.
"I am pro-choice, and here's why," Lahren said. "I am ... someone that loves the Constitution, I am someone that's for limited government, so I can't sit here and be a hypocrite and say I'm for limited government but I think that the government should decide what women do with their bodies. "I can sit here and say that as a Republican, and I can say, you know what, I'm for limited government so stay out of my guns and you can stay out of my body as well," she said.
I'm all for limited government as well. But that belief in "limited government" has limits as well. And I see nothing hypocritical about using government power to protect innocent life.
Ideologues always expel those who do not tow the line even if their position is way more logical than the ideological position.
That's "toe" the line, btw. She was on Gutfeld's show the other night, looking even hotter than usual.
what do Milo Yiannopoulos, Tomi Lahren, Judge Napolitano, Mike Flynn, Corey Lewandowski, Carter Page & Paul Manafort have in common?
Except for that time three months ago when she said abortion was murder and she was slagging on Lena Dunham about it.
If you believe that life starts at conception and that a fetus has all the rights a human has than it is not hypocritical to say abortion should be outlawed. You are in effect saying that since abortion is murder it should be outlawed. I don't see believing abortion should be illegal as a violation of "limited government" ideas since you believe that aborting a baby is no different than murdering a man which is also illegal.
This holds true for any pro-lifer who wants to punish abortion as murder. But when Trump suggested that, most prominent pro-lifers rejected that notion wholesale. So they actually know that it isn't murder, or that the circumstances completely change the nature of the act in relevant ways. Still referring to it as murder is obviously hypocritical.
IIRC Trump suggested punishing the mothers which is where the problem came in. And pro-lifers do think it is murder. The hypocrisy is not that they refer to it as murder but that they are willing to excuse it by not punishing those who would be guilty of it.
