Eh. Nukes will blow up San Diego first before LA.

Although if LA did go, I hope they'll design roads with designated left turning lanes once the radiation levels drop. Oh, and create New Hollywood without rapists and child molestors.

Or use the entire Raiders team as meat shields.

    Just sayin', it's worth a shot . . .

You need to be careful about gawking at just any old mushroom cloud. Some are poisonous and others are hallucinogenic. When in doubt, turn about.

A friend at work says he'd like to live just long enough to see the mushroom cloud and understand what's happening before it melts his flesh off. Doesn't wanna live any longer than that. Considering we're less than 10 miles from lower Manhattan, that's about right.

The heat pulse would "melt your skin off" (not technically correct) long before the mushroom cloud became visible.

And you can see a mushroom cloud without a nuclear weapon detonating.

Jamie Lee Curtiss tweeted that this was entirely Trump's fault because of the atmosphere of racism and fear he's created.

Really? I'm pretty sure that North Korea developed nuclear weapons two administrations ago. Back when President Trump was still a Democrat.

A state employee accidentally hitting the wrong button while running a routine test in the middle of the Pacific is Trump's fault.
That's right up there with "Thanks, Obama."

That part about most of L.A. not having left hand turn lanes is so true.

How many nukes could nk realistically get off, how far could they really go, and how many would actually detonate? Assuming China or Russia didn't flip shit at the justified retaliation (and not just lob a few of their own at nk) we'd mourn the victims of the successful strikes, and send our love and prayers to the troops who have to Wade into nk to clear out any hostile survivors, and give aid to civilians.

 She's still wrong. This literally would have happened no matter who was in office. Somehow I doubt she'd have said this if Clinton was President, though.

That suggests something seriously wrong with how this employee - and potentially hundreds more like him - was trained for the job. The fact that he was simply "reassigned" and not cashiered is the interesting part.

Only if your thinking occurs in a vacuum. Trump trades barbs with Kim, constantly talks about our nuclear arsenal, Kim vows to irradiate the U.S., Trump continues talking up our nuclear arsenal, and suddenly Hawaii gets an alert about an incoming missile? Trump's hands are not clean on this one.

A guy clicks the wrong button from a drop-down menu during a routine test and somehow Trump is responsible for that?

No, and again, that's not what she said. She even capitalised her points for you. Here's what she didn't say:

This Hawaii missle scare is on YOU Mr. Trump. The wrong BUTTON pressed by an EMPLOYEE who chose it from a PULLDOWN menu . YOU DID THIS!

In that case the system needs a complete overhaul. Unless it includes an ESC button or "Are you sure you want to...?", in which case everything's just fine. :bergman:

true! I saw an actual fucking "mushroom cloud" when I lived in McHenry Illinois in the 70's. A fireworks factory blew up a couple of miles away and DAMN we felt that shit down to our bones. Being not too far from Chicago of course we thought the worst when we saw a big mushroom cloud! :scary:

Trump is responsible for the fear surrounding the incident. Without the context of North Korea and Trump's posturing, hearing a missile warning would be confusing. IN context, you'd shit your pants because it would be well within the realm of possibility due to the constant antagonism between Kim and Trump.

The incident would have happened irregardless and I would imagine I’ve people got a push notification saying there’s a ballistic misleading inbound, there wouldn’t be confusion, people would still react the same. Besides, who’s to say there weren’t people who were confused or even people who didn’t take it seriously and went about their day? That shit happens too in crises. Look no further than people who want to tough it out during hurricanes.
