Let me rephrase it, then: Why is no one surprised when shit like this happens in Georgia? Think long and hard about that. I will say that far too many in California do tend to be blind to this shit that happens here. Or they think that because it's the Left Coast that we're somehow less prone to racist sentiments. In a lot of ways, it's worse than the South, that has for the most part been shamed into it's slow progress. CA thinks it's enough that slavery never existed on it's soil, but it was all too willing to ship off its Japanese population into internment camps, bar Chinese from mining during the Gold Rush and we had rulings about integration a decade before Brown vs BoE because even a blond haired blue eyed kid with a Hispanic surname was barred from certain schools.
California can be just as racist and bigoted as the tiniest town in the deepest part of the South. They’re just better at hiding it behind euphemisms and glittering testaments of fairness and equality. They can be just as NIMBY as anyone else.

In the south maybe most people realize that "the eyes of the world" see them as being racist backwoods fucks - despite the fact that Atlanta is as progressive and functioning and successful as any city can be by any standard. We should really forget labeling regions of the US as "racist" or "liberal" or whatever names we want to put on them. To be honest it really all depends on the individuals wherever they live. For example whether a state is "blue" or "red" is determined by a small percentage of the voters. My point being don't judge states on whether they are conservative or liberal. Any particular town/city can be racist (or tolerant) despite what the general opinion is about them.
Cops usually work with unsavory people as informants. It seems obvious that, as usual, the crap SJWs at The Guardian are leaving out relevant facts because they contradict their crap agenda. I will await a better source and more information before drawing a conclusion.
If you mean all cops, I can't agree, but if you mean cops who are corrupt and seek to undermine the life, and liberty, of other human beings as a result of that corruption, then I understand. I'm not an advocate for killing, I'm not and I can't advocate such a thing, but I can understand the sentiment if that is what you mean.
I obviously don't mean all cops everywhere. "Fuck the police" tends to apply to American cops, who tend to be much shitter than cops in other first world countries, and I'm firm on my "kill all nazis" position only applying to full-blown self-identifying Nazis and their collaborators. The cops that collaborated with Nazis are just as bad as the actual Nazis as far as I'm concerned, and if the department protects them, the department is a de facto Nazi organization as well. For the record, any cops that are willing to actively oppose Nazism are unfucked as far as I'm concerned. Strange bedfellows and all that.

Yeah, even though it seems like a grass is always greener situation, I can't help but note that the cops I talk to who live in other first world countries are usually shocked when they see how U.S. police behave. Not all U.S. cops are like that, but more than enough to be a serious problem. Police here are more and more militarized. They're hammers in search of nails, and there's about 275 million of us that look like the nail they want to hammer down. What's worse, is there are plenty of people here in the U.S. who get a hard on at the thought of police brutality, of militarization. They mistake jingoism and fascism for patriotism. That kind of scares the fuck out of me.
I was there last week. Too urban for me downtown and in Buckhead I'm sure there are nicer areas though.

According to the LA Times in a article far less biased than the one in the OP the California Highway Patrol recommended more that 106 people be charged for what happened that day. The CHP listed 516 misdemeanors and 68 felonies in a 2000 page report that was given to the Sacramento DA. The District Attorney only issued warrants for four people. Why? Because they said that there was insufficient evidence to charge anyone else. Remember both sides were covering up their faces and refusing to cooperate with the investigation. This according to the District Attorney meant that they could not bring enough evidence in court to get a conviction. 1 2 Really what should have happened that day was the police should have shot both groups.
