Yeah, heard they plan to 'color code' the redactions (each diff't color indicates one of those reasons you mentioned).
And that last part is why I don't think there will be boo in the report about Trump that isn't redacted. Trump wasn't charged, so it's fully in Barr's purview to redact anything that makes him look bad.
All it takes is one call to a judge to make that block go away. Same as in Whitewater and Iran-Contra. Now in this case I can see why they might hold off on that - the grand jury is still empaneled. But it should all eventually come out. But the intelligence committee is entitled to the whole thing, without redactions. Totally legit, but again, it should all come out eventually. Utter horseshit. That could be the whole rest of the report. Bear in mind, Barr decided not to charge Trump, but the country needs to be able to see everything that could bear on impeachment of any civil officer.
Is it this or more of "You shouldn't be strictly acting in your own self interest"? Speaking personally, looking out for Number One is vital, because you can't help others if you're not taking care of yourself, but from observation, our society has a tendency to take this too far and isn't able to easily define where the line of self-interest and common good is. Come on now. Assumes facts not in evidence. And no, Venezuela isn't a good example to hold up. Let's find common ground: Generally speaking, a good idea, but we're going to disagree on what portions of the government needs to be reduced, so I'll leave it at that. Even @Diacanu agrees with this I'll bundle those two together. I can see some argument for it, but I'll comment it belies the point of the United States as posted at the Statue of Liberty; furthermore, I'd argue that how trade and immigration are handled is more important than the dogmatic efforts of isolationists and of the 'Trump Wall'. The anti-nuke efforts baffle me.
Barr knows everything will come out eventually, but he has to slow-walk it. He has the very difficult job of balancing the interests of the president, the Republican party, and the nation as a whole. Remember there are multiple ongoing investigations into various aspects of Trumpworld and Barr has ultimate responsibility for them all. EDIT: all of the federal investigations, of course. The state of New York has its own thing going on.
Actually bud, Southern District of NY is under the US DOJ - they're all US Attys. Assuming you were referring to SDNY and not a State's AG or prosecutor.
Right, NY state has a separate investigation from SDNY. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/11/nyregion/deutsche-bank-trump.html
Barr says he thinks the government spied on the Trump campaign Perfect example. This has made a big splash, but he didn't really say anything new. It does however accomplish his goals. He gets to placate the president ("Yes sir, those are very serious charges. I will definitely look into them"). He gets to reassure nervous Republicans that if there was any impropriety he will uncover it. And he gets to gather as much information as possible, the better to serve the American people. You can do it, Mr. Barr! We're all counting on you!
“I think spying did occur. Yes, I think spying did occur. But the question is whether it was predicated, adequately predicated,” Barr said. “I’m not suggesting it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that.” “I am going to be reviewing both the genesis and the conduct of the intelligence activities directed at the Trump campaign during 2016,” Barr said. https://dailycaller.com/2019/04/10/william-barr-spying-trump-campaign/
I don't think everyone is stupid, that's just silly. I'm not even sure whether I think you're stupid. For one thing, first I'd have to care.
A bunch of people took a shit in their pants the moment they heard Barr say yes there was spying on the Trump campaign. Barr is not stupid. He knew what he was doing when he said spying.
Of course he knew what he was doing: placating the president, reassuring Republicans, and protecting the integrity of the Justice Dept. There's not a shred of evidence for this ridiculous claim.
FEMA death camps? I mean, seriously, he's the stereotypical conspiracy theorist. I think it was wrong of the tech giants to unperson him because ultimately he and people like them are harmless (beyond hurting feelings), but he's still nuckin' futs. Argue the points man - we know about that warrant and the way it was obtained. All they have is "orange man bad" and are continuing to shill for a conspiracy theory of their own.
Exactly. Take that Alex Jones bullshit out of here CC. We don't need you're stupidity in this thread when we already have people like Dinner, Nova, Diacanu and Garamet in here.
https://www.lawfareblog.com/what-make-carter-page-fisa-applications There was no lie to the FISA court, and at the time the warrant was sought Carter Page was not even involved with the Trump campaign. Edited to add that the very notion of an "Obama FBI" is laughable. No president has ever had that much direct control over the FBI. May that long be the case.
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? Anyway...here's something for you on the Alex Jones front.
Yes, that's the entertainment side of him. Like I said, some of what he says is true, though exaggerated. https://news.berkeley.edu/2010/03/01/frogs/ https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/01/human-pig-hybrid-embryo-chimera-organs-health-science/ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ea...tically-modified-cows-produce-human-milk.html https://cdn.defenseone.com/a/defens...lly-engineered-spider-silk-body-armor/129814/
