Must be sad being so defensive when I've never said it was racist. In fact the closest I came was:

Not at all. But after years of people on the left trying to tell me what to say, live, wear, think, occasionally I get sick of the whole deal. ya know and am more inclined to tell 'em to fuck off.

Plus, as I said, anything the Chinese government promotes, I kinda DON'T want to go along with just because they're lying assholes and I won't be part of their propaganda machine.

That goes for WHO too. I've not been a fan of them for decades. I've read too much about them. Epidemiology is one of my interests, which is why when the shit hit the fan, I was reasonably (wipes, gloves, TP and a few N95s) prepared and didn't have to go apeshit like the rest making futile runs on the stores.

I've *never* liked political correctness and the older I get, the less I like it. The more I'm told to do this or that, the less likely it will happen, particularly if I think it's not being done for a rational reason but because someone is offended, angry, or thinks that they know what is best, whether they do or not. Fuck that.

COVID-19 sounds like the name of some distant star or planet, not a disease that'll kill your granny and maybe your auntie too.

well that's certainly not stereotyping or simplifying a layered, complicated political matter. With a genius like you on their side I can't believe the Democrats don't win every election with a landslide victory! Go figure, huh?

Now take that post back in time a whole week, and it'll really zing me.

As it is now, I get to sarcastically call you "Quick Draw McGraw", and everyone will stand around you in a circle laughing and pointing.
    Here we go...

    Scintillating observation, Quick Draw McGraw!

Go ahead and whine, but this is why words matter:

What's spreading faster than coronavirus in the US? Racist assaults and ignorant attacks against Asians

Remember post-9/11 when Americans who "looked Arab," including Sikhs, were under attack?

Now, if you want something to soothe your delicate feelings or just have a good laugh, there's this:

I miss when the worst thing a bat might cause was rabies.

Umm, rabies has a fatlity rate much larger than this. You are an idiot. The only reason rabies does not kill like this is because it is not airborn. You can still get rabies from the spit of an infected animal.

Your joke is funny dayton, not funny ha ha. Given the choice of contracting rabies and COVID I am going with the covid. You can have your rabies.

Was it a bat or a pangolin? I keep hearing the story differently. Pangolin to bat, then bat to bat-eating idiot? One doctor said the virus didn't come from an animal in the Wuhan market, it had to be brought into the market before it spread, and that were a few cases identified before it hit the market.

As I understand it, it 99.9995% likely started in bats.

The only real question as I understand it is whether it went from bats to humans or bats to pangolins to humans.

I thought the Chinese liked to grind up their scales for traditional medicine. I didn't think they ate them.

    Man, they eat everything.

They even boil dogs alive in order to eat them.

But yeah, I guess they primarily wanted the pangolins for their scales.

As an individual perhaps. But rabies has never done so much societal damage. We’re certainly heading towards more people dying of covid this year than rabies, well, ever.

We have theories, but afaik no-one has yet been able to identify patient zero (although last I saw a woman who works in a seafood market is the first person known to have had it).

One account I read actually called a woman by name as the first to feel ill effects from the market. But then, as I said, one doctor said there were other cases before it spread from the market.

I like that some Chinese WeChat users were embedding COVID-related information in odd places, such as this Star Wars crawl, to avoid censorship from the Chinese government.

Well Saul Goodman-lite that is a fair question. Considering the US is so deeply, generationally entrenched & entangled in trade with China I couldn't even begin to tackle the problem, but I think enough great minds could figure it out. But that's really a moot point. Would the average American consumer be willing to pay more for - or even go without in some cases - Chinese goods & services if the solution involved this? I would be, but I'm not everybody. But if we as a nation got off the Chinese trade teat we should start at all medical supplies & medications and high tech electronics & materials used in national defense. This is just coming from a self preservation standpoint if nothing else.
