"Oh, wait...you mean it's my shit they're gonna burn?" Suddenly, wanton destruction no longer seems like a valid form of protest.
Non-violent protests are valid. Riots are valid. Sometimes you can give a speech and convince others that they need to better fight to protect the most vulnerable. Sometimes, though, you've just got to throw a goddamn brick at a cop.
I hope they're getting a big catharsis out of this rage release, because they're going to be living in rubble tomorrow.
regardless that they were residents, they were looking out for their neighbors. This was not "justice for George Floyd" it was "payback time" for anyone trying to stop the looters.
okay I watched the 2 X 4 video. Only three on one? Very brave of them! Usually thug looters won't attack unless they have at least a five on one advantage! Business 101 - choose your zip codes carefully before opening up a business.
caused by rioters! Bold talk until it's your business that gets looted. But we can fix that - how about nobody opens up any more businesses in a Democrat controlled zip code? Would that get your message across?
So what you’re saying is because Dicky constantly complains about the things the US does, he hates the country. How is this different than your complaints about Trek?
Yet they will still be bitching that nobody wants to invest in their neighborhoods. Same old same old.
Riots are not valid, it’s the equivalent of throwing a hissy fit with violence and an excuse to loot people.
While I have reached out to the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club I haven’t had the time to get involved with them. I am curious though as to what you think former military folks could be training protesters in. What tactics have you seen that look military?
Good thing women didn't get the right to vote that way. Oh, wait. Good thing the Stonewall riots weren't a thing. Oh, wait. Well, good thing America was founded on strongly worded letters. Oh, wait. Well, at least slavery was abolished with frustrated angry pamphlets. Oh, wait. Huh....it's like the fight for liberty has always been messy or something. Nah, let's go back to the sanitized fairy-tale history we learned in grade school. That's safe and cozy.
I can hear the protests coming from your house now: “Macaroni and cheese! Four times a week! Macaroni and cheese! Four times a week! Macaroni and cheese! Four times a week! Macaroni and cheese! Four times a week!“ “No breadsticks, no sleep! No breadsticks, no sleep! No breadsticks, no sleep! No breadsticks, no sleep!“ I’m receiving unconfirmed reports that the master bedroom has been barricaded as residents brace for tantrums.
Yep, still black. I don't know if I'm any more or less dense than I used to be. I would think that any time in my life I would have understood that "not all X are Y" is generally going to apply when we're talking about human behavior, except by definition. And I think I would think that at any age I would have raised the question of why all teachers/priests/lawyers are bastards by the same lgic of all cops are bastards.
Edit: No I'm not supporting the rioters but once someone is stopped like this woman was there is zero reason for that cop to do that. That does lead to more problems.
You wonder if they've even read their own history. The United States was founded on the act of setting shit on fire and fighting back HARD against an authoritarian enemy.
That's not how the United States came into existence. The founding fathers weren't running around burning their own shit to the ground while looting their own businesses.
speaking of damaging property what are your plans if somebody wants to damage your house or harm you? Are you just going to take one for the team? Asking for a friend!
Do you think that any of the people looting Target owned stock in the company? Wonder how many businesses during the Revolutionary War were destroyed because the owners were loyal to the King.
