So, this is my little one's first US election (she's 11 so not really but it is). She didn't really know why mommy finds it so interesting. Then she got it. Then she read up on it. And then she started to ask me about why those people are always talking about winning one state or another. So yes, she knows what elections are, and how they are done here. Or if the good guys win or the bad guys.

So I explained to her, it's historical, in the olden days this made a lot of sense because very long distances and they just had horseys and all that. OK.

10 minutes of intensively thinking about it she asks me why it was never changed. So I told her about the states, and why they won't give it up due to political imbalance favoring smaller states. OK.

The sixth time she came back asking but why?! I just made her original American Mac&Cheese to stuff her face. That shut her up good.

    It's just good parenting :cass:

I would at a guess say some anti-electioneering laws also prohibit certain displays of support for a candidate within a given distance of the polling place, not just actively campaigning.

It seems like on the face of it, going to the polls with a big-ass sign saying vote for a given candidate would probably be against most electioneering laws.

From this old-ass press release, though, Florida allows passive electioneering:

I mean, I don't see that on the front end being that crazy. It's perfectly reasonable to think that the pandemic is still very important but not the most important thing on which to base voting. Heck, it's not true but it's not irrational to think either that the president is doing mostly what can be done in the face of the pandemic.

The on camera talent and (anti Trumpers) on MSNBC look very happy. I'm guessing that they are getting exit poll reports that are very favorable to Biden. Of course, they can't come right out and say that, even if it's true. Wishful thinking or insightful analysis? We'll know soon enough. :clyde:

From what I've been reading, after 2000 they actually started to get pretty good at it.

Counting in Fulton County Georgia has stopped due to a water pipe busting in the arena. Georgia might not be called tonight.
