I do not know what the problem is. It is their religion, and they are in charge of their corporate bullshit. I do not get why gays have to be in that particular church. It is their cannon. If you do not care for it then go to another church or make your own. No one is forcing anyone to be catholic.

The only thing I would say is the US government has got to stop giving government contracts to catholic and christian organizations. Especially for things like orphans. The catholic church taking care of children is in no way some sort of benevolent charity. It is purely for the purposes of indoctrination into their cult. The government should not be endorsing any of that through adoption agency funding, or for any funding for religious schools.

If people do not want to engage in homosexual relationships because some guy in a funny hat tells them their sky god does not like it, then that is their business. Aside from that, it is a right for consenting adults and for establishing a civil contract of partnership between consenting adults under the law and not someone else's god fantasy.

I think what you saw in the 90s and the 00s was the Republicanification of the US Catholic Church. A lot of priests left and converted to more mainline denominations like Episcopalian.
