The economy was in the shitter, at least partly because of Trump’s Covid bungling.

Especially downturns driven by folks not being able to leave the house.

Gas prices were low before the pandemic as well.

I appreciate the link. Even though we both know the boy won’t even look at it.

So looking at the data it appears that gas prices started rising ten months before Biden’s inauguration (April ‘00 being nadir).

Who knew Biden had such amazing time traveling influence on the markets.

And you think that the President has the ability to directly control gas prices?

Then why do you think that it's important gas prices were lower under Trump?

Because there was a discussion about the overall economy that goes back to post # 270, do try and keep up. Presidents can have an impact on gas prices though.

Right, so even though inflation is dropping, more new jobs have been created, and the stock market is at record highs, you still think things were better under Trump? Remind me again, who was President when there were riots that some here claimed were destroying large sections of cities?

I didn't claim that "things" were better under Trump, I specifically said gas was when @Ten Lubak asked about it. I've pointed out specific things in this thread that I believe goes against this lie that Bidenomics is working. Certain people including yourself like to conveniently ignore these things. Again, try and follow the discussion before chiming in, Donnie. Not once have I said Trump was a good president, he wasn't. He bungled the pandemic big time, I even said so at the time, a fact that people conveniently forget when they claim I'm a Trumper. He didn't get the wall built, he didn't make Mexico pay for it, and he didn't replace the ACA. So once again, I didn't vote for Trump and won't be voting for Trump, but I am pointing out inconvenient things that you don't like and I enjoy that.

No, no. The Democrats are trying to emulate 1984, Republicans are emulating The Handmaid's Tale.

I was wrong, it was $1.77 at it's lowest point. Still, not bad.

April 2020 when the shutdowns were in full effect and no one was needing to buy fuel.

Personally I blame oil company profiteering for the current prices, no matter that they're lower than they've been for a while. We just set a record for oil production FFS.

But it's low information Republican voters like this dipshit that blame Biden and the Democrats for anything related to the economy. It's honestly reflexive for them. It's when they influence low information swing voters that we have a problem.

This is probably true, but Biden's policies haven't helped.
Also, I find it hard to believe that we as a species won't drain every drop of oil the Earth has so we need to get past this fantasy that we're going to get off of oil production.

    This you?
Yes, we've been over this. Do try to keep up.
And ignored things that show the economy is on an upward trend.
Perhaps if you criticized Trump as much as Democrats, we might notice these things.

Donnie? GTFO here with that, if I'm anyone from The Big Lebowski, I'm the fucking Dude.
And yet, your criticism of him hasn't been nearly as vociferous as that you've ladled out to the Democrats.
Which should be enough for any rational person to say that it counteracts any good that he might have done.
    Okay.
And? Plenty of people disagree with candidates that they vote for or support on particular issues.

He did add to the existing wall.
So, you would have been happy if he had gotten the wall built and made Mexico pay for it? Is that what you're saying?
I know that makes you sad.
Did I say that you voted for Trump, or that you will be voting for Trump?
You don't know shit about me.

I had a meeting this morning with an aspiring video editor and somehow we got on the subject of the economy and she was part of the group of people who think that things are worse than they really are. And she's in her late 30s or early 40s, not some kid with no life experience.

I told her that when I was growing up inflation was in double digits (which floored her) and that the past 30-something years of super low inflation has spoiled us.

I'm pretty sure people in their 30s and 40s (the demographic Biden is counting on) don't want to hear the, "back in my day" speech when they can't afford a starter home and they're up to their eyeballs in student loan and credit card debt and the minimum wage hasn't gone up in a decade and they're living paycheck to paycheck and they can't afford healthcare.

In one of those odd things that sticks in your head when you're a kid, I can remember hearing an old guy (meaning that he was my age now) complaining about the housing market. This would have been about 1979 or so. Mortgage rates were somewhere around 13%+ and he and his wife had just built their dream house, but in order to sell the house that they were living in, he had to cosign the mortgage for the buyer, because the banks just weren't lending money.
