I'll do FF a solid and answer from his perspective: The Grimm Bros. fairy tale on which Snow White is based specifies that Snow White is "white as snow," and "the fairest of them all." To be true to the original story, Snow White should be what the Grimm Bros: wrote: an albino.
But boys did play Juliet, because women weren't allowed in the theater. That's almost exactly the Spider-Gwen world.
an albino with red lips and coal black hair??? are we sure she just wasn't anemic? Given how the tale's origin is from the south west tip of Germany in the 16-1700s (black forest) and the era of the HRE, it seems reasonable she'd be part latin/italian in her descent and likely should have a bit of depth to her complection.
No she should be white girl who has Bavarian like features. You wouldn't cast a white girl for Mulan would you?
how about remaking Seven Samurai as a cowboy movie or Hidden Fortress as a space opera? no Japanese actors, but we can get white guys who've done yellow/brown face in the past...
I’m not really sure what you’re arguing here. Source material = Juliet is a …15/16 year old girl Women (and girls) were not allowed to be in plays All parts were played by men. So, how is “source material” not a man playing a woman? Before you answer, I should let you know that in my 3 years of high school, I had no less than 5 acting classes.
i think he kind of made the point he was arguing against. if originally Juliet was a teenaged girl played by young guys, then Snow White being played by a young woman of Polish/Puerto Rican parentage shouldn't be much of a bother.
The source material is the play as written. It isn’t written as a 15 year old boy falling in love with a 15 year old boy. It was acted that way as you rightly pointed out that girls weren’t allowed to act in plays at the time.
The original text says that Snow White is literally "white as snow." The only Caucasians who are "white as snow" are albinos. The rest of you are, to quote Shran, are pinkskins. If you're going to focus on what the original says, then let's focus on what the original says. Albino Snow White or bust!
Do you even hear yourself? Or read the words you type? YOU’re saying exactly what everyone else here is telling you. What is the disconnect in your mind?
Are you saying Raoul is lying? And you live in Virginia? Tell me you’ve never been called “pink toe”.
although I'm much more intrigued by your views on what qualifies as "white enough" so you're saying that Rachel Zegler isn't white enough to be Snow White?
I personally would love to see a take on Snow White where the titular character's deep beauty was more than skin-deep and where she was by traditional standards completely ugly. And that would explain why the traditionally hot queen got so fucking crazed over a teenager's looks.
JAWOHl, DUMKOFF! Snow White MUST be of the Master Race, or it is an insult that the Fuhrer authors will not stand.
bnitch, you are as dense and stupid as he is. Actually, the boy melts down over my posts less than you do, so he is actually a little bit smarter and better at the pretend you don't hear Tererune game. You should both take some tips from your cum nozzle @Uncle Albert because he knows when to STFU and not give me the satisfaction of knowing he reads all of my shit. Stop following the @Ten Lubak book of pretending not to care while you are completely obsessed with what ther other person says. Can the mods please change Jenee's name to stupid barbie.
I ask again, why not make something new, rather than cashing in on name recognition to sell something completely different? Lack of confidence in your own abilities? Overriding desire to shit on something beloved because it offends your sensibilities?
To quote the Bible, there is nothing new under the sun. So the notion of creating something "new" is probably overrated. But what you might see as a cash grab, a lack of confidence or shitting on something, the writers of remakes or plays on something might see as supreme confidence in their talents, a chance to match their talents against the best, a desire to bring something to a new audience, a chance to provide food for thought, etc. etc. One can't tell me that the people behind the original West Side Story, for instance, were suffering from crippling anxiety over whether they had skills or not. And millions enjoyed that play/musical who might not have seen Romeo and Juliet, or who did not relate to Italian teens speaking funny in the same way that they related to New York teens, some of whom were dark-skinned.
what is wrong with a spin on a classic as it has been done for ages? Strange Brew was a alteration of rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead, which was an altered perception of hamlet. No one freaked the fuck out because they did it with canadianss, beer, hockey, and octoberfest. Why can't people add or do something new with it? We got The wiz when they changed up the wizard of OZ. It didn't ruin or change the wizard of OZ, and we got more. You are a racist prick arguing a racist prick load of bullshit because people have been changing versions of a story forever. Sometimes we turn people into african animals and call it The Lion King. You certainly never argued that most of that cast was white, and that the soundtrack was totally whitened up from it's original. I do not hear you saying anything about the superior version of that score.
