    Actually, the audiobook I just finished narrating (not available yet) flatly asserts that he was gay and names at least one of his partners. If by "repressed" you mean "closeted" the answer is absolutely yes, as was required in the Hollywood of that era. How did so many hide their true selves? Well, it is called "acting" ... :clyde:
