One of the things I liked about the movie Fat Man and Little Boy is that they hired actual scientists for some of the roles. If you're going for realism, then having someone who's familiar with the subject matter is kinda important. The original cut for the trailer of Tucker: The Man and His Dream showed one of the cars rolling over during testing so that you could see the bright yellow driveshaft of the car that rolled. Teensy problem with that: Tuckers didn't have driveshafts. I didn't bother watching the film in the theater because I figured that if they got that wrong, they probably got the other important stuff wrong. (They've since fixed that, and as I later discovered, the film's reasonably accurate.) Years later, I was talking to the owner of a Tucker who served as a consultant on the film, and he talked about shooting that scene. He pointed out to Coppola that you could see the driveshaft in the shot, Coppola looked at him and said, "Only you would notice something like that." I took a great deal of pride in telling him that I'd spotted it as well. All of us love those little "geek out" moments where something that we're watching/reading/listening to, perfectly nails a thing that we're well-versed in. We may not like the rest of the product, but we all, invariably, have a better opinion of that product because they at least got something right.
I like a Youtube channel called "History Buffs" where the host dissects films based on historical incidents or periods for accuracy. I always love it when people make Ninja Turtle jokes after they find out what I do.
Damn it. Anyone got …. one of those cheater books to read instead of those classic novels? What were those called? They were yellow and black? I didn’t read them cuz I like to read the actual novel, but everyone else read those books and I can’t remember what they were called. Anyway, guess I’m getting an F on that one.
Oh, we’re well past signs. All my words are in the dead zone and short term memory capacity is taken up by the accumulating long term memories.
I see you disagree @Uncle Albert , can you give any examples from projects you've been involved with?
Did I offend you? Put one in the operating as intended category. BTW can you tell me how you feel about @Jenee ? Just wondering. I just know so many of her haters are floating about and I was wondering if this is another example of WF hypocrisy.
No, and I don't want you banned. That's not the point. I want you to carry on with your nonsense forever and forever, while I scroll past most of it. The point is that you are easily a more offensive shitposter than many folks who were banned, and I want them brought back, because whatever standards the admins have don't seem to be applied fairly.
Oh so you are one of the people who likes to whine about the admins. Shitposting in the red room does not seem to be a bannable offense as a lot of people, including you, do it often. If dayton is your example, he had been doing his shit for decades. I have not even gotten a temp ban yet. I am on the record as thinking the rules around this place are pretty obvious, and the mods allow for a huge amount of freedom of expressio0n as long as you do not cross certain lines which would seem to be quite clear to me. Your idea that the mods like me is laughable as many of them show open disdain for what I say, and I have openly attacked some of their preferred members like Garamet. What you are mad about is really that certain members crossed lines of racism or dangerous threats that got them banned. If the mods do not do that this place would become a repulsive pit of racist memes and *chan like /b/tardery. Don't use me to attack the mods because when they warn me that I am crossing their threshold I back off and normally agree. I have gone way too far in the past. I have reached out and touched people IRL. I know the damage that can do because I have done it. At the times I did it it would have been nice if I had been approached in the ways mods do here. It would have gotten through. The people who have been perma banned went off on hugely abusive and destructive activities and did it multiple times while insisting they would never stop mostly for the purpose of destroying this place. You do not destroy the venue you want to speak in. You need to go fuck yourself because I will tell you the mods around here really do let people talk freely. They really do give a huge number of chances for a person to come down. They even seem to have some weird caring for the idiots who have been permabanned over the years. I have ben around a lot of message boards and WF is a fucking oddity in how much consideration they will give before a permaban. If the day comes that I ever get banned from this place, (Shut up @Shirogayne ) I know that either the mods have changed or I have crossed some fucking line into dangerous insanity. Just because the mods may have tightened up on the stormfront rhetoric does not mean they are getting rid of any worthwhile noise.
(As UA) Fucking, fucking, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, liar, liar, liar, liar, liar, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, fucking, fucking, fucking, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There, saved you the keystrokes, wasn't that nice of me?
Translation- I miss the Nazis, because the Nazis knew how to deal with trans-es. Did I really need the translation? He's not exactly dog whistling, he's blowing a fucking kazoo. Still, maybe the slow kids in the back row needed the help.
No, commercial projects with investors and stakeholders who want the best possible return on their investment. This isn't a speculative thing, we as a company, and I personally, see better results with audiences (even if they don't know anything about the team) when it has a diverse range of voices involved in creating material.
I avoid jobs where I deal directly with clients or am expected to do anything but generate quality results for my part in appealing to them. This is where context is vital. Box-checking may be a recipe for success if the entire project exists as a vehicle for parading diversity. Outside that, you had best be hiring people who are best able to build your widgets, regardless of what they look like or how they "identify. "
I will grant you this. In my line of work diversity is a huge advantage because we have to come up with new specials every week and a diversity of opinions and ethnicity helps the chef come up a menu that appeals to different people's tastes in food. Nine times out of ten it tends to work out well. Of course that is all predicated on whether your chef will actually listen to your input, some do, some don't. Fortunately mine does, for the most part.
I can't be a clown, I'm not chasing you in slow motion with a giant erection in your nightmares every night.
