Holy shit Boimler you dense motherfucker I'm sure even Dayton wouldn't miss the hints those girls were dropping
Even moreso with the brilliance of putting in Morgan Bateson. Which ship did he command in that TNG ep?
The only thing that would have made this episode better is if they played this music when they stole the Cerritos. Given the musical cue for Bozeman, I honestly was half-expecting it.
Can someone please confirm if Morgan Bateson command the USS Bozeman? Also, was the mayor of Portland gassed?
Yep. I'd love to see him make an actual cameo in Star Trek again. Aside from the fact that I love his voice, he's just got this really good, strong presence that makes for a good Star Trek captain.
In the novel universe, Bateson got himself up to speed in the 24th century and was in command of a Sovereign class during the big Borg invasion in the Destiny trilogy.
The indignity of the Bozeman having to make a minor course correction in Generations finally convinced him to trade up.
"Oh, sure. It's never the Galaxy-class ships that have to make a course correction. It's always the Mirandas. We don't have anything better to do. Well, fuck this. Fuck it in the ear."
I love that it was Bateson and Tuvok that ended up saving the day, just because it feels like the plot of a Lost Era novel that Freeman and the Cerritos would barely be mentioned in, if at all. Hell, add Raffi and/or Rios to the team and it could be the plot of an upcoming Lost Era novel.
I keep thinking about this, but maybe the explanation is that he hates grapes so much that he can't even cue into this. After all, he did have that one girlfriend for a bit in Season One, even if she was only after the bug that got into his brain, and was also interested in another alien that hit on him before that. Either way, I got a laugh out of it. Also gotta give props for having Mariner not comment on any of that whatsoever
Also, it's pretty well established that the crew use the holodecks for fucking. Boims might be after a relationship rather than a roll in the raisin baskets, since he could get the latter any time with any girl/boy/multidimensional octopus he chooses. Those girls only seemed interested in sexytimes. The simpler explanation is that they kept disguising their advances as work problems, and Boimler hates folk who can't solve such easy work problems on their own initiative.
