Assuming the bot story is true....WTF fucked up calendar did the bot access that had Kristallnacht on it?
Looks like there's some sort of annual remembrance service? It probably falls into the same category as secretaries day or Diwali, a calendar reminder for the HR departments of big corporations to send a mass email full of generic platitudes. My office sometimes gets them on the anniversary of the Montreal massacre, reminding us that hating women is wrong.
Yup. It's not like it'd be a hard thing to automate. If This, Then That is a fairly simple and cheap service that someone could use to do it. Given that most web calendars are also automated to display things in a standard format <date>, <important event name>, <link to Wikipedia article with the event name in the title>, someone probably whipped the thing up in a few minutes months ago, and didn't think about the implications of what might happen if they picked a day with some rather dark connotations. (Granted, such dates are pretty rare in Germany. ) Still, it could have been worse. Had an actual human from the marketing department spotted this in advance, they probably would have tried to use it to relaunch Crystal Pepsi.
Here is hoping someone stops this before they give out free chicken in remembrance of MLK being assassinated.
Well, after I bang your wife, we normally go out for fondue and then have a quickie abortion. You know, just like your boy Herschel does it down in Georgia.
